Ok I think I got the use year down. For example let say I become an owner (150 points) this year with a use year of March. I want to take a weak vacation next May 31st 2011. So I bank my 2010 points plus I get 150 more points in March of 2011 for a total of 300 points but I need like approx 13 more so I borrow 13 from March 2012. So on June 31st of 2010 I call and make the ressies and bank this years points and borrow the extra 13 from 2012 plus use my 150 that I will get in March 2011. Ok so lets say Feb 31st 2011 I find out I cant go on May 31st and I have to cancel everything.:headache: So as long as I called 31 days in advance of my ressies (May 31st) the points do not go into a holding account, however I have until March 1st 2012 to use my banked points from 2010(150) and borrowed points from 2012(13) and I can bank the 150 that will come with my March 2011 use year. Ok another scenario. Lets say I dont want to cancel but move my ressies until June 31st. I assume nothing will changed with the borrowed and banked points and will just be moved to the new ressie. But I would assume the problem would be getting that new ressie only 3 months away? Ok so do I finally have a handle on it ?:yay:

You just about have it. If you cancelled that May 2011 trip you would have to use those previously banked and borrowed points by February 29, 2012, not March 1.

A trip in May cannot be just "changed" to June. What happens is that you would have to cancel the May trip and make a new June reservation. Thus, you still need to do that cancellation 31 days or more before that May trip to avoid the holding account. And yes, it can difficult at times to get something at only 3 to 4 months out.

You are getting the hang of things!!! The easiest way, I think, to understand what can be used for a trip is to first figure out what UY your trip will fall. Then, you know you can "pay" for that trip with banked points from the previous UY, current UY points, and borrowed points from the next UY.

So, for a May 2011 trip, since it is in your 2011 UY (March example), you can pay for it with banked 2010 points, current 2011 points, and borrowed 2012 points.

Good Job... Just think about the 98% of Members who don't use the DIS. I wonder if they get it? :goodvibes

One small point, this seems to confuse new members. Points are already in your account for 4 use years. If your use year is March, right now there would be 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 points in your account. There's no "I will get in March 2011", they are already there now (if you own now).
