Changing Ressies from Party of 3 to Party of 4

We just found out that my older daughter's plans for spring break fell through and she now wants to travel to WDW with her sister and us(her parents). I had made a bunch of reservations for 3 people for March 22-27. Do I need to change them to a party of 4? I am thinking that for a party of 3, they have to give us a table for 4 anyway. I am very worried that if I call, they will say that they have to just cancel my existing ressie, and then there will not be reservations available for 4, and probably not any at the exact times that I have them for already. We are eating at Flying FIsh, Boma, Cape May, Biergarten.

Thanks for any experience with this.

I just called this morning with a similar situation - I need to change a party of 6 to a party of 9. The lady was VERY nice and first started out by saying she wasn't going to TOUCH my existing reservation yet - she would just look around. She looked at what was available (which was nothing!) - looked for various times and really tried to work something out for me (splitting up into 2 tables). But she didn't touch my existing reservation until we knew what we wanted to switch to.

So don't be afraid to call and see what they might be able to swing for you. They don't have to cancel anything just to look and see what's available.

Changing from 3 to 4 is usually not a problem. With a party of 3 you are already seated at a 4-topper, that is a table that can have four people at it. As far as I know there is no such thing as a 3-topper. The problems arise when you need a larger table than the one you are currently seated at (changing from 4 to 5 or from 6 to 7)

that's what we were told, it is easier going from an odd # to an even #. We have the opposite problem we have to change CRT from 5 to 4, and they cannot accomodate us! After booking this 180 days out, now we are stuck waiting til closer to the trip to rebook. I really don't want to lose this as it will be the first time for breakfast in the castle

Just as a warning there are a few restaurants that have only tables of 3. I saw a couple of them on my trip in Oct. I don't recall where it was now, but I'm thinking it may have been at Boma. I don't know if anywhere else has them. They were tables that were fitted into odd parts of the room and didn't seat as many people.

Thanks All. Good point about the 3 tops. I will call and hopefully they can help me out.

The same thing happened to me last year when my dad decided to join us for a couple of days, we went from 5 to 6. I had no problems updated it for the rest of our trip. I think we may have had one time switch of 5 or 10 minutes.

We went from 2 to 4 last Sept. (3 different times) and that was during the free DDP with now problem. But we did call in a month or so before to revise the ADR.

Hi Everyone,

Just an update in case anyone else is ever in the same situation as I was. I called, in particular because "If U Had Wings" mentioned that Boma might have tables for 3, and we were eating there twice. Sure enough, on all my ADR's, the CM was able to just add 1 to my party of 3 and make it a party of 4, EXCEPT on my two BOMA reservations, because we were seated at a table for only 3. (Who knew!!!) She was able to change my dinner reservation for Boma to 20 minutes prior to what I had, and she was able to give me a breakfast reservation at the same time as I had had one already. I am very glad that I called and now I feel much better. Thanks to everyone for the advice.
