We are currently booked in a 1BR at OKW for 5 nights. It would be 52 more points to upgrade to a 2BR (if available). We have no points to use. For this trip we banked, borrowed and used current UY points. We have friends who own at OKW. If we could get them to rent us some points, how would we proceed? Would they transfer the points to us and then I could call MS to make the change? Is it possible to make a change like this to a reservation? Would we be cancelling and rebooking or just modifying the reservation?

I had another idea. Would we be able to do this? We have 5 nights (7/30-8/4) in a 1BR at OKW followed by 6 nights (8/4-8/10) in a 2BR at BCV. Our first night at BCV is a Saturday and is 55 points. Could I cancel this night on points and pay in cash? What is the likelihood that we would be able to get a cash discount on this night and what would we be looking at for a price? Would I then be able to use 52 of those 55 points to upgrade OKW from a 1BR to a 2BR? If so, we would have 3 extra points. Would MS be able to ensure that these points are from our 2012 UY so that they could be returned to our UY and banked into 2013? Am I right in that the points we borrowed from 2013 could not be returned into 2013? Or if they could, they can't then be banked into 2014, right? If I could get this to work would MS be able to make the BCV part all one reservation combining points and the cash night?

Thanks for any/all information and I hope this isn't too confusing :)

Any change of villa size will be a cancel and rebook. If your friend had points for transfer that is what MS would do when you called - if there was availability in a 2BR. You might want to at least check on that prior to getting a transfer.

Or, if it works within your UY, yes you could drop the BCV night and use those points but again, I'd verify and book a room on cash before dropping the night. And yes, MS would be able to leave bankable points if you originally used 2012 points on the BCV reservation. Any points you borrowed from 2013 stay borrowed into your 2012 UY. Banking and borrowing are final transactions at the time you do it.
