Changing resorts question....

We are staying at the Wilderness Lodge & then the Yacht Club in December, can Disney transfer your luggage from one resort to another for you? Thanks in advance.

Yes they'll do that, Claire, but you will have to wait for the bellhop to collect it from your room before checking out, and for it to be delivered to the next room once you're in (I guess that's more about the bellhops getting their tips than anything else).

Once we've checked out of one resort, we always go straight to the next to check in on the basis that we should get a better choice of room by doing it early. Invariably, the room isn't ready, but you'll get your Keys to the Magic cards and you can call back later to check progress on your room.

We are doing POP and then OKW which I have rented points for from a DVC member.What time are the rooms normally ready.Considering it will be December the 18th when we move to OKW.Is it worth us going straight to OKW to see if our room is ready?Also do we have to wait for our luggage to arrive at the resort before we can have our room?Sorry ,never used disney to transfer luggage between resorts.Have done double stays twice now and have always stuggled with a taxi.Its not something they advertise is it.

Last time we changed resorts was POR to AKL.

We arranged for Bell Services to collect our luggage from our POR room and transfer to AKL in the morning we checked out.

We then spent the day in the parks and returned to AKL in the afternoon to check in. After checking in we gave our room number to Bell Services at AKL and they delivered our luggage about 20 minutes later.

It's possible, but unlikely, that your room will be ready if you go straight to OKW after checking out of Pop. If you have any particular room requirements, though, the earlier you check in, the better your chance of having them met. Last August, for example, we checked into SSR at 10am. Although we'd requested Grandstand (and it was marked on our reservation confirmation), we were actually assigned to Springs (they give you information like this, but don't release your room number until the room is available). We asked if there was any availability at Grandstand and there was plenty, so she moved us. Had we arrived later in the afternoon, I doubt we'd have got it (friends arriving a day or two later and checking in around tea- time were assigned Paddock. There were no alternatives and they had to wait until the next day to be moved).

If you don't have any preferences, you're probably better off going and getting your day underway.

I am not sure that the value resorts like Pop will actually do the luggage transfer for you. Sure I heard someone having a problem with them. As far as OKW is concerned the rooms are not normally available early but we did get one as early as 9.30am after we came off a cruise

never had a problem moveing from a value.Inlaws were taken by the luggage cart from movies to pop once

we stayed first at pop and moved our own luggage to carribean beach resort, but after 1 night we didnt want to stay at this resort (another story) so they told us they would move us to riverside and just to pack up and leave all our luggage in our room and at end of our day at the parks they said they would have moved our luggage to riverside and when we arrived at riverside that evening our room was ready but our luggage wasnt there and riverside had none for us they rang upcarribean beach but they said they didnt know where it was either and told us maybe it had been sent on a bus to the airport by mistake so they gave us $100 and riverside also gave us $50 so we could buy new resort cups and some clothing and underwear for the morning also they gave us some toothpaste and brushes and flannelsas it was late but when we went to our room at 1.00am we got a call that they had just recieved our luggage and could they bring it over to us apparently it was found in the room we had left that morning !They told us we would have got $150 per day till they found our bags. not bad.

Thanks guys.We have requested to be near the main area but not that fussed to be honest but will get there early and book in.Only going to DTD that day as its a chill out day so don't have to rush off to parks.
