Changing reservations online?

I was booked for CBR this July, and then switched to a standard view at POR for the same cost due to the construction. It's a bit of a discount, but not really that much.

My question is - assuming that summer room only discounts come out (maybe March 20?!), and assuming I can book myself a garden view room for a 15-20% discount (which would be cheaper than the standard I've currently booked at my "special" rate), would I be able to do that on the website just by going to "change reservation" (or modify, or whatever it says), and select the new room, or would I need to actually call to do that? The likelihood of me snagging a room is much better if I can do it online, since I won't have time to be on hold until I get home from work that afternoon! I've never had to change a reservation before, with the exception of calling about the CBR construction in hope of getting the $75 gc (which wasn't offered to me, so we switched - but that's a while separate story that I have since moved on from haha!!) And I'm nervous about somehow messing up my current reservation by trying to change it!

I would just book the second room on a separate reservation and then cancel the first one.
 

What you want to do works fine. I have done it lots and it doesn't mess up anything. I really miss being able to do it

Where is the option to do this? When I log on all I see is the option to cancel.
Not everyone has it. And even when you do, sometimes it doesn't work.
But if you do have it it is in the same place where you see an option to call

I will preface this with the statement that I don't know that I believe the CM. I had several questions, none of which she could answer. Everything was "we are doing magical enhancements". A crappy catch all answer that is worthless.
Anyway, she told me that room only reservations could never Change Reservations online. That you always had to call. I explained to her that I did indeed use that feature often until about 6 months ago. That's when she brought up magical enhancements again and said that the option was removed from room only. I asked why the link was still there and she again said, I don't know but it shouldn't be. It became clear she didn't know much of anything so I told her I'd just call back later and try for someone who did know something.

I typically only have room only reservations...I've used the Change Reservations feature as recent as 2 months ago!
 
I only do room only reservations and do the change reservation feature all the time! More than I should admit. I changed something on a reservation last week. Barring website issues, the interface is super easy and quick. That option is solely responsible for my resort-changing addiction. :-)

I do have the change button on mine, and it's a room only reservation. I guess I will try that and see if it works - if not, I'll have to call and take my chances that there may still be something available! I'd rather not rebook and cancel the first reservation, because I've already used gift cards to pay off close to half my balance, and wed then have to put a new deposit on our credit card, then have them refund the original charges back to the gift card, etc - more hassle than I'd prefer to go through!
 
I have three packages booked, all for the same dates and only one of the change reservation links works. It's super annoying.

I have a couple room only reservations currently on my MDE and I am able to go in and change both of them, I got all the way to the point that you confirm the change on one, and actually changed my room on the other, so unless those 'magical enhancements' haven't hit my account yet I would say that she was just randomly making things up to get you off the phone. I love the change feature and would be annoyed if it disappeared, I hate calling in when it is so much easier to just do it the correct way myself online.
