If FD does come out next week as rumored, I want to change our reservation because FD is a better discount for our family than the 30% PIN we are currently booked under. My question is, will the phone CM be able to transfer the money we have already paid on that reservation over to the new reservation? Or will they issue a credit and expect a new deposit (and then payment in full once the credit hits our account)?

they will transfer everything over and you will probably even keep the same confirmation number!

even if you change dates.

I think this isn't accurate. It looks like they will be changing from a room only reservation to a package reservation. WDW accounts for those differently and I believe they'll refund the room only and get a $200 deposit for the package. The package will need to be paid for 45 days before arrival. I haven't made a switch like this in a few years, but that was my experience.

We have a full package (room, tickets, DxDP) booked at the moment with the PIN. We went ahead and booked just in case no other discounts we released for our travel dates. But FD (even with the upgrade to DxDP) works out to be cheaper for us. So we'd be changing a package booked with a PIN to a package booked with FD.

Since you have a package already booked, your ressie can be changed to free dining if that should come out, provided the resort/room type you already have booked is available under the free dining promo. You may have to be flexible with your resort in order to change, but as long as there's availability, there shouldn't be a problem and you will keep the same confirmation number.

Thank you! I know this might sound stupid to some but I am just hoping to be able to book a standard or garden view room at the BC or a garden view room at Poly. Like I said, we are booked now with a room PIN but DH drug his feet a bit too long when it came to booking and we ended up in a water view room at the BC. At the time, it sounded great but now I am back to crunching numbers and it seems like a total waste of a view and money to me. DH keeps telling me not to worry about the added cost of the view but I would rather have that money to spend on the kids since we are going for their birthdays.

You're welcome :). It's not stupid at all. We usually go for the regular rooms rather than a room with a view, so I do understand what you're saying about the extra cost. While it might not be a significant amount each night, it does add up over the course of a few nights to a week's stay. You never know when the room you want might become available, so if free dining does come out and the room you want isn't available, keep trying because I have made changes in the past and have gotten just what I wanted when it wasn't available at the beginning ;). Good luck :wizard:.

Thanks for the encouragement! I keep checking with the PIN and hoping that something new will pop up. I had just about given up when I saw the mention of FD. That saves us about the same as the PIN but if we can change views it will save us quite a bit more.

Glad I could help :goodvibes. You have nothing to lose if you don't mind calling every so often to check because you just never know what might become available ;).

Hey I was wondering the same thing. We have ressies for BC at 30% but would love to have CR with a discount more than 5% they are offering now or with FD. When I made reservations I said something to CM that I didn't want to add dinning yet in case FD came out or another discount and she was like "oh you would have to cancel this reservation first then book a new reservation and it might not be available". But I was thinking why couldn't they transfer or book new reservation then cancel old one to make sure I got it. But anywho I don't think she was having a magical day so I just said "okay" cause even if I stick to this reservation I will be in Disney so I will be !

If you have room only now, then yes, that reservation would have to be cancelled/refunded and a package booked (free dining), as money paid toward one cannot be transferred to the other. If that was the case, they should be able to book the package and then cancel the room only to make sure you got the resort you wanted with the package. But if you already have a package booked, free dining can easily be applied if the resort you want is available under that promo :).

I can confirm that this information is correct! I called tonight and changed the dates and resort for our package reservation and everything (including the confirmation number) transferred over.

It was a total win, win for us...less money at the Poly and we're going a week earlier. We won't be there the days of our kid's actual birthdays but we'll still celebrate them Disney style!
