hi,

I plan to fly on Southwest for the first time in November from the New England area. When the dates were recently extended to mid-December, we booked 4 round trip tickets from Manchester, NH to Orlando and obtained a "promotional rate" of $84 one way. Just out of curiousity, I just checked flights out of Hartford, CT for the same dates (Nov 6-16) and they have an "Internet Special" rate of $68 one-way. Should I want to change the tickets to those out of Hartford, what would people suggest be the steps I follow? 2 of us live in sothern NH and the other 2 travelling with us are in southern CT, s either airport would be ok.

The terms of the internet special claim that it must be booked on-line?

thanks for any ideas folks have,

peter

Since I have done this before, perhaps I can help. First, make sure the dates and times are available out of Bradley, if they are, cancel the original ressies (make sure you KEEP THE RESSIE NUMBER of the original). Also, make sure you keep the cancellation confirmation. Now, make the ressies from Hartford and when you go to pay for it it will ask if you want to use another form of payment, like a prior reservation. Click on that and put in the information it will ask you. If there is a balance, you will be required to pay for it then and there, if there is a credit they will hold it for you for a year from the original reservation. If your friends have not made their reservations as yet, they could use whatever credit you have to pay for their reservations and give you the amount of the credit.
Please, keep in mind that this is for internet reservations only, if you made the original reservations via telephone with SWA, you will need to call them to make the changes.
Hope this helps and if you need more help, let me know. :)

If you made your original reservations over the phone, just call them and cancel. Get the confirmation number and then follow the same steps Gail outlined. The internet airfares can be a little cheaper. You can use the credit for anyone, but be sure you know the name on the credit card you booked with (THE EXACT Name!)

Whatever you're going to do with Southwest, you'd better do it quick or those internet specials will be gone. Even though we always book online, I usually get an SWA operator on the phone for booking transfers. If you have DSL or cable modem, you can talk to them while you book the new ressie, to make sure you can get it while they are cancelling your old one. SWA folks are very nice, and tickets go so quickly, sometimes people cancel their old ressie for credit only to find those great rates (and seats) are gone:D
