Changing Reservation w/ Free Dining

Actually mbanks you are incorrect. Today I was accidently put on a conference call with the CM and also guest services. So I listened to them. The CM took my info, told me there was NO AVAILABILITY on one of my days.. then when she went to go back to guest services, thats when they put me in conference call by accident. The guest services person did it all, including getting me the availability on the one night there was NONE whatsoever, not even with a discount. The CM told me she could not alter the ressie since free dining, same for the CM I spoke to yesterday. They both had to go through guest services
 
I've been told the same thing when I've called to modify a ressie after a promo has ended. I was told only GS could modify such a booking and have been put on hold while they worked on it. It sounded like a "system" limitation vs. an agent not knowing how to do something. I've been able to add dates to an existing ressie ( as long as it didn't put me over the 14 days maximum that the FD promo could be booked for). Perhaps a CM on the res floor can modify other things, (such as removing guests from a reservation or changing to deluxe dining), that don't require looking for another day or upgrading/downgrading a resort. I'm not sure, but I've also had success in adding additional days to a FD ressie, of course IF it is available with the promo. To me it's worth calling and being on hold for awhile as I'd drive my own self nuts wondering about it later if I added on a room only night without the promo.---Kathy
 

I have modified free dining reservations after the promo period has ended more than once by changing room types, hotels and arrival dates. I have never been able to do it through CRO. I have always had to speak with Guest Services. Sometimes Guest Services has been able to make the change and sometimes not. It all depends on whether there is any availability left over from the promo. If there is, they can make a change, if there isn't they can't.

In my experience CRO can never make these types of changes for you after the promo has ended.

Same here, we are on our third free dining and I have made changes each time after promo has expired. Whether it be resort, drop/add days or guests it has always had to go through GS. I changed my resort two days ago for Sept and CRO placed me on hold while GS "went through the back door" to modify reservation. Once again, all changes hinge on availability.

What happens when you get a GS who tells you "No, that promotion ended... We can't do it..." Thanks for looking for availability! I don't care anymore... I"m not bitter... :rotfl: I just booked 2 room-only ressies and I'll still be in WDW, just without free dining... for 2 more nights in there, I can live with it!
 
Thats not true, they can change your free dining without penalty until that 45day mark. I just had to drop my DH off the ressie and switch from 2rooms at Pop to 1room at POR. No problem. Actually, the 17th was not available with the free dining OR with the new room only code. But when she called me back later, she somehow got the 17th included in free dining! But no need now as a gracious co-worker last night gave me 175 DVC points to use!!! SO again, I will be calling and cancelling!
