Our UY is August with our home resort of BWV. I recently made reservations for next April-3 nights in a studio at BLT. We are thinking about switching that back to BWV instead. Points were borrowed from our 2013 UY (stupid me went and banked 44 points ahead of time as we didn't think this additional short trip was going to be possible).

My question is: will I be able to switch resorts (points will be less) and not lose those points since they are borrowed from 2013?

I'm still new to DVC so thanks in advance!

If there is availability, MS can modify the reservation to change resorts. They should use the borrowed points first, but you should also remind them that the reservation used borrowed points.

If BWV is available, MS can do the switch which would consist of canceling BLT and then booking BWV. The switch should result in using borrowed points that are in that BLT reservation fist for the new BWV reservation before any regular points. If you have more borrowed points in that BLT reservation than needed to make the switch, then those extra borrowed points will go back into your account; however, they will go back as already borrowed points and they cannot be returned to their original use year, meaning you may end up with some borrowed points that you must use for a trip that occurs before July 31, 2013, or be forever lost.

All of the borrowed points must be used for a stay that ends on or before 7/31/2013. If not, they expire and are lost to you.

As Michael posted, if you change back to BWV, MS should reuse the points from your BLT reservation. Sounds like you banked all of your 2012 points, so there would only be the borrowed points for MS to use when making the BWV reservation. Maybe you can use the extra points for a longer stay?

Don't know why you are thinking of switching back, but as a BWV owner who usually stays in a 1 bedroom BWV standard view and who just finished a 2 night BLT studio stay - well, I enjoyed it. :teeth: Wasn't all that bad, LOL. Loved being able to walk to the MK. Took the boat to WL and ate at AP during our stay and I thought the Contempo Cafe had some great CS breakfast and lunch options. If you haven't given BLT a try, consider keeping the reservation. (I still love BWV the best, though). :)

P.S. I thought all the talk of "small" BLT studios to be an over-reaction. They are quite well laid out and perfectly fine for a couple (even a couple plus 1 or 2 small children) for a short stay. (I still love the space & amenities of a one bedroom, though).

I'm a Boardwalk owner who is trying BLT in March. Looking for some variety.

If your reservation is all borrowed points, any excess points would expire 7-31-13.

Thank you to everyone who replied and explained things clearly to me. I guess in real life I have a fear of the unknown & change lol (not a good thing but I try to deal with it). I don't want to risk losing any points so we will give BLT a try. I know we will probably end up in a one or two bedroom there once we are able to take our young grandchildren with us due to the closeness of MK. I will consider this a "discovery" trip!:lmao:
