Changing reservation from package to room only... will I be losing money?

Hi everyone!

My fiance and I have a trip booked for this May, we had a $200 deposit down on a 6 night package with tickets and dining. Anyhow my wonderful mom just let me know that she was giving us annual passes for Christmas! I would like to change my package reservation to a room only reservation, but will I lose the deposit due to the trip insurance involved in the package?

Since your trip is more than 45 days out you will recieve your deposit back minus the amount for trip insurance. The insurance is non refundable but the remainder of the deposit is yours to keep or apply to your new room only ressies as long as you cancel the package more than 45 days before your trip. Another option may be to have your mom give you the money for the aps and on your first day, ask to upgrade your myw ticket to an ap. then you wont lose the insurance and will still have it and any other package perks like dining. Just go to guest services before you enter the park.

I didn't know you could actually upgrade from MYW to an AP. The only thing is I'm pretty sure she has already bought me the actual vouchers.

One thing you could do is reduce your MYW tickets to 1 day and then you can keep the package with dining plan. Then save those 1 days for another trip. Or you could cancel the package and use the AP's to get a BRP rate, but you lose the dining.
