Changing points on a ressie?

I booked a room at BCV using my June 2011 points from VGC. I then rented Sept 2011 points (SS) in order to add a week on at Vero Beach. I have so far been unsucessful at getting the Vero ressie (come on waitlist...). I am wondering can I switch the points used on my reservation from my VGC points to the SS point (so that I will be able to bank if my waitlist comes through)?

Has anyone done this, or do you know if it is possible?

I assume you mean you have a transfer of points from another member. If your BCV part of the trip is before Sep. 1, 2011, they won't let you switch since the SSR points are not in effect until then. Otherwise you should be able to exchange points since the reservation you have was itself made 7 months or less out. However, finding an MS representative that understands that can be done may be hit or miss.

OOps, I should have said the SS points are 2010. They will expire at the end of August, which is why I want to use those points first. And, yes, it was a transfer. Sorry I wasn't clear.

So it sounds like it may be possible, but I may need to try several times to get it done.

My advice is to send an email to MS with your request. It will be given to someone who knows how to accomplish the transaction.

Do be absolutely sure that the email is very clear about what you want to do and includes all of the relevant information.
