Is it possible to move the date of a trip only two weeks out? I have a medical issue that if not resolved soon, I may not be able to go on our trip. We have our magic bands and everything is paid. I thought 30 days was the cancellation cutoff. What about moving the date to later this year? No trip insurance. Not flying. Used a pin code.

You will have to call and ask about rescheduling your trip. If you have any discounts or special offers applied to your current reservation they will not apply unless the special is still in effect and there is still availability. If you cancel the resort reservation, rather than reschedule, you will forfeit the original $200 deposit since you are within 30 days of arrival.

But if I just reschedule, do I have to pay anything other than the difference in package price? Or would moving the reservation be the same as cancelling and making a brand new reservation (subject to the 200 cancellation)?

The best thing to do is to call. They can help you decide how best to manage this reservation. I am not sure, but I think that I have seen people post they were able to change the date, and not lose their deposit when they did so within the 30 day mark, but I don't know if they were granted Pixie Dust or not.

Good luck with your health, and please let us know how you make out.

If you reschedule, you will not lose your $200 deposit or have to make a brand new reservation. You will just be subject to prevailing prices for whichever new dates, resort and room you choose.

I remember a time when I was trying to decide on purchasing travel insurance. I had purchased it before, but this time we were driving, so wasn't worried about cost of cancelled flights, just the reservation and tickets. The CM on the phone gave me a little "off the record" tip. She pointed out that the cost of the ins was almost the same as the penalty fee of $200. Then she told me that if I had to cancel, Disney would want to work with me to reschedule the trip. I thought that was really nice of her to mention, because I'm sure Disney doesn't go around advertising that. Good luck to you and I hope things work out in your favor :daisy:

You are not cancelling the reservation, just modifying it to a different date so you will not be charged the $200 cancellation fee. You might end up paying the $50 change fee if your new reservation costs less than your current one. If you change from a package to a room only, then it would be cancelling your current reservation and making a new one so you would be subject to the $200 penalty.

I hope you're doing better today. :)

Call Disney and explain if you need to change. I think they're usually pretty good to work with in situations like this.

Thanks for the info. Haven't decided if I'm going to change it or not. I'm hoping not. I just wanted the info so in case I have no choice

Oh my I think we are going the same time starting at Universal for 2 nights then to Disney.
I also am in the midst of a medical issue. I am medicated and hoping this cures it. If not surgery.

But I'm going! I have to. I'm driving my daughter to college mid trip. So unless I get progressively worse, we are going.

Keep in mind, WDW's official policy is no refund if you cancel less than 24hours out.

You'd also risk the no-show fee on your ADR's.

If I had to cancel or even modify, I'd personally try to do it at least two days out.
