Changing one day of a trip...

Does anyone know if it is possible to waitlist one day on a trip and ask them to drop only one day on a trip. We are going the January 19-23, 2016 and want to pick up the 18th and drop the 22nd. I just don't want them to drop the whole reservation if we get the one day. I know when you waitlist you can put down a day to cancel but will it cancel the whole reservation or only that day.

MS can do as you suggest, the question will they. You might want to call to add this waitlist and call back later to verify that it's been entered correctly.

thanks Bill, I worry about the errors of MS. One person posted they cancelled her who trip when she was just checking availability. They scare me sometimes

Do you have enough points to waitlist and then if it fills call in to drop the one day? That would be much safer.

Nope. We are actually using all our points this year and have none to borrow. My mom is not doing well with her RA so we added another trip this year in March so we can make sure she can go with us. I will just watch and wait.

called and put the waitlist on today, we will see what happens. We have not purchased airfare yet but once we do that I will have to remove the waitlist. This trip is the first time DH and I have traveled alone in 11 years, I want to make it special.

I have done this before and when I do, I usually call MS to be sure that it is entered correctly. Or, I send an email to MS and tell them exactly what I want to be sure it is done the way I want and it gives me a record when they respond in case there are any issues.
