Changing number in the party

We have made dining reservations at several table services places for our upcoming trip. We are not sure if our son will actually be eating with us or if he'll be eating with friends on a school trip. We had to put a credit card down with the reservation and it said if the reservation was cancelled within 24 hours or we were no-shows - we'd be charged. What if our reservation number decreases by one when we arrive to check-in? Will we be charged for him?

I remember a similar thread on this not too long ago. I think the consensus was that as long as you are a not a no show, and someone in your group checks in that your card will not be charged. You could call to confirm, but I believe that has been the experience of others. Now if your DS is dining with friends, he may need to be on their reservation to ensure he can get in. Have a fun trip!

Thanks! DS will probably eat CS with friends, but in case he wants to eat with us (I know, I'm probably fooling myself) I want to have a reservation for him.

This. DHs flight got cancelled so he was arriving a day later than planned. We changed one ADR to another day and went to one without him. They didn't charge us for either one because we actually showed up. Both were in the 24 hour window when we called.

As the pp's said, as long as someone shows up, you won't be charged for your son if he doesn't go.
