Changing names on a ressie?

While on a recent Disney cruise, we rebooked 2 rooms for next January. One room for our family of 4, and another room in hopes that my brother and his family would join us. Both rooms are in our name--we put down 4 $250 deposits on one room (ours) and 2 $250 deposits on the other.
Are we going to be able to change the name on the ressie to my brothers name? Also, he is a family of 4..how will that work since we only put down a deposit for 2 on the second room. If it can't be done I guess we will just cancel the second room and apply the $500 to our room.

One more thing--we got the stateroom credit for rebooking on board. What happens to the credit in the second room if my brother goes? Does he get to keep it?? Thanks!

You can't change the name of the lead passenger on a reservation.

You can add his family to your reservations to keep the onboard credit and the 10% discount. When you check-in, let them know how the KTTW cards are to be done. (They don't care who actually stays in the rooms.)

Can I ask a question which piggy backs on this one?

If you have people listed in cabins in which they are not staying(booking a particular way to save money) can you actually have the KTTW cards made based on where they are staying? I thought we'd have to keep our kttw cards for the wrong rooms and then have extra keys made for the right rooms but by you post it sounds like we can get it done properly. Disney really doesn't care at all?

Just wondering how you were able to book two room with all your names and no one elses? I'm just confussed at how they let you book one room with the four of you...then a second room with two of the same names and information as the first.

Like a previous posted noted you can not change the names on the reservations...and by having you and your spouse in the other room also you'll be paying cruise fair for both rooms...and wouldn't be able to add their children to the room. I know you can't switch names and at least one person on the original reservaion must remain on the reservaion in order to keep the discound and onboard credits.

I think your best bet (if you and your spouse are indead booked in two room) to have one of you cancle your reservation in one room and the other to cancle it in the other room...then "ADD" your brother in one room and his wife and the kids in the second room.

There is NO problem adding people to your reservation as long as the room holds that number of sleepers (some rooms only hold 3) and as long as the kid limit on the ship hasn't been met.

But I'm still REAL confussed at how they let both you and your spouse book in two rooms.

The rebooking lady (sorry, can't remember her name) let us book the second room (with 2 deposits) with our last name and "TBA".

So it's just your last name on the reservation.... Does your brother and his family have the same last name? If so...I wouldn't think there would be a problem adding them to the "TBA" status....or not really adding but putting them in as the "TBA" names. However if the names are not the same I could see a problem..as reservations can NOT be transfered to another person.

I don't know if the stateroom credit question you had was answered or not...but YES if they keep the room under the current reservation they would get the stateroom credits.

When you rebooked the room under your "last name" and with a "TBA" status...did the rebooking lady know who you had in mind? If so what did she say about it?

My brother and his family have a different last name. The rebooking lady knew that we were getting the extra room for other family, but she did ask if they had the same name or not (and we did not think to tell her). Because we did not know at the time we rebooked if other family would be able to join us on our next cruise or not, the rebooking lady said she would put "TBA" and that we could add the names later.

After reading these boards for a while, i got the feeling that there may be a problem with getting them in our extra room.

I'd call DCL and ask them...It sounds as if you did what she suggested...and like you said she didn't ask if the names were the same or not...and of course you didn't think of it..why would you..she's the expert...So I'd call and see what they have to say..With having it TBA maybe you'll have no problem changing them...or not really changing the reservations but filling in the TBA status that the reservations were made under .

But if you do have a problem or any issues...you could alway try what like I and (I think) others have suggested...Where you keep one reservation with your name and have your spouse keep one in his name...then have your brother and his family join in each of the rooms until there full. From what I understand to keep the deals and discounts you have to keep ONE person from the original reservation on the reservation...but that doesn't mean you'd have to sleep in one room and your spouse in the other...it would just be for booking reason. (you'd just want to make sure you let your stateroom host know what's going on so the correct amount/size of life vests are in the correct rooms)

I noticed that you did ask a different question. I am sure Regina can answer this better than I can, but here goes... I am sure that DCL admin cares that people switch rooms and sleep five in a room that has a capicity of four, but in my experience, room stewards do not blow the whistle. Remember, they work on tips. I have a family of 6, so if we do not get a suite, we often have to shuffle the kids names onto other cabins. Now your question about KTTW cards. There puropose is three fold, the main purpose is being your identification while on the ship, to get off/on etc. Second it also serves as your charge card and lastly, your room key. I really do not think that if Jane Doe is listed in cabin # 8040 that they will re program the card to cabin #8046 as an example. I may be wrong, but all the times we had to list kids in differenr cabins, they just kept their original KTTW card
Lastly, I heard of Guest Services being able to reprint KTTW cards in the situation of lost cards. They deactivate the lost card and issue another. So I do not know how you could get extra keys as you posted. It is always best to have kids move about the ship in groups or atr least pairs, so the person in youur group who doesn't have the right key just has to be with someone else in the party who does. Now...I don't think they always deactivate the card if you get a second one. I guess maybe if you told them you lost it they would...if you just ask for a second KTTW card they don't. So you could get "extra" cards made...so the kids did have a card that worked in the door. The extra ones come blank (no printing) and are only for a room key...not for charging.

BTW our dd left her KTTW card in the room one day and went to GS to find out how to get back in...they just made her a new one (blank with no charging privliges). So that's how I know about them not always deactivating the cards.
