Changing name on credit cards?

I got married in Oct. '05, and I've updated almost everything with my new name, except my credit cards. Since I don't use them anymore, I haven't been in a big hurry.

I'm going to call them all tonight and get the ball rolling, but I was just wondering what "proof" will they as for? Will I just need to send them a photocopy of my marriage cert? Or will they ask for other documentation too?

When I did mine in 2000, a phone call was all it took (scary huh) for most of them. One wanted a letter sent to them. Who knows how much that has changed in the last 6 yrs

I think some of mine just required a phone call as well.

funny - i got a letter from Toyota requesting info for a name change.
WTH? My name is right on the bill!
so I call them up...evidently the name on the title of the car I traded in was still in my maiden name...so here I am, married 2 years and 4 months..still doing name change crap! heheh

I got married July 2004 and all of my cards where changed with only a phone call. However for both of my hotel rewards cards and paypal I had to fax over a copy of my marriage license.

I think all I had to do was call. They probaly asked me a couple securtity questions like my mothers madin name and SS#. I even added my DH to the accout while I was at it. They didn't need anything from him.

The hardest thing to change was my medical records. After 2 years, somehow they are still screwed up. Just last week they called my parents house to remind me about my appointment.

Cool, this won't be so bad then (though a little scary that they don't require more info!). I already called to change my frequent flyer number, and they wanted a letter and a copy of the marriage cert. I was affraid I'd need to send out half a dozen letters!
