my hair is naturally a dark blonde. i have been dying for years. currently it is light to medium brown (for those who now it is acorn). i am really bored with my color and decided to change it. i once had it strawberry blonde and really liked it. i was thinking auburn (brownish redish color). i consulted with some friends and they vote for strawberry blonde. what do you think?

I voted for strawberry blonde for 2 reasons. If your friends say strawberry blonde, it's probably because they think that will go better with your coloring than auburn. And you said your natural color is dark blonde, which makes me think strawberry blonde will work better for you.

I have colored my hair auburn for so long that I think of myself as a natural readhead. :teeth: I chose auburn over strawberry blonde all those years ago because I had medium brown hair and a medium complexion, so I figured auburn would go better with my coloring. Today, if I tell someone I'm not naturally a redhead, they're always suprised and comment on the fact that the color looks so natural with my skin and eyes.

I voted auburn cause this is the color I do mine. But, I found it to be somewhat lacking in depth. So, I have it done in a two step process....first the auburn and then some high-lighting. Don't do it myself tho. I've colored my own hair for decades (yep, used that darned red dye!!) but I won't do the high-lighting process. Waay too much room for error.

Whichever shade you decide, I agree with goofy4tink about the highlights. I started doing the 2-step process about a year ago, and the color looks so much more natural than it did before! I am fortunate that I have a wonderful husband who colors my hair for me and does a great job of it. But goofy4tink is right, there's a lot of room for error, so unless you have someone like my DH who really has a knack for these things, I'd go to a professional.
