Two months ago I thought I was all settled - scratch that idea. We (family of 4 - pregnant Me, DH, DS4, DS1). We have the DDP (now free b/c of the change in promo - so we upgraded to Coronado from Pop - weeee!!!!).

Had dinner reservations at the following:

Captain's Grill
Hoop dee doo Revue
Garden Grill
Crystal Palace
Cape May Clambake
Sanaa - OOP

Thinking that maybe we want to be more free form in the evenings and adjusting which days we are doing at which parks, we are now doing:

Flying Fish - paid OOP with no kids back in 2004 and loved it. Hoping we love it just as much this time using 2TS
Garden Grill - moved to a different date and earlier time (now 4:40 p.m. vs nearly 7 p.m.)
Hoop dee doo Revue - this is a no brainer, we love it! Worth the 2TS
Cape May Clambake - thinking to keep this one

This way we have 2 nights that are up in the air for CS credits or OOP if we run out of credits. These nights will likely be a Magic Kingdom day and maybe an Epcot or HS day...

Welcome all opinions :)

I agree :thumbsup2 We like to keep a few nights free and use our TS for lunch or early dinner.

Haven't been to Hoop dee or Garden Grill in many years but did go to CM clambake last year and loved it!! Great salads and desserts-it worked out well on one of our DHS days (we don't love the TS selections in DHs) and it was just a boat ride over after dinner.

Have fun!!

I also agree about only keeping one of Captains Grille or Cape May. Since they are in the same area it doesnt make sense to go there twice and waste time to eat at a resort. I would definitely keep Cape May. Captains Grille is very good but Cape May is a good buffet with all you can eat crab legs!

What about picking someplace at the World Showcase to replace Captains Grille with?

Tons of good CS options for dinner.

In MK, biggest 'bang-for-the-buck' would be the ribs or chicken at Cosmic Rays, and the kids might enjoy the animatronic entertainment. I personally like the food at Pecos Bills at well, including the DIY toppings bar. Or a fun experience might be to take the monorail to a resort CS for dinner. Contempo Cafe at CR has some unique choices, fresh-made, big dessert selection, and the fun factor of eating on the concourse with the monorail going by overhead. Capt Cook at the Poly has a great big pulled-pork sandwich that I am in :lovestruc with, and it is the one and only place where you can get a Dole Whip (pineapple, vanilla, or swirl) cup for dessert.

In HS - well, not so much. Starring Rolls is wonderful but they close for the day around 4 pm & often run out of sandwiches before that. I'd try to put Cape May with your HS day.

But Epcot has so many good CS locations it's not funny. Pick a cuisine that sounds fun. Or pick two or three, make a brief stop at each country to pick one and everybody share. DH loves fish and chips from England (downside is that the only dessert is one little shortbread cookie). I love the big baguette sandwiches from France and the entire bakery case to choose desserts from. Norway gives you a full meal deal for your CS credit: big sandwich plus a side item (salad or soup or friut plate) plus a drink plus a desset, with a nice little covered seating area just beyond the cash register. Many people on the DisBoards rave about the CS from Morocco. Mexico also seems to get good reviews.

Appreciate the feedback!

Quin - thanks for the CS suggestions.

Never tried Contempo, but may have to look into it since my boys would love watching the monorail.

In MK, we enjoyed Cosmic Rays on our trip in 01/09 and will likely eat there or CHH (never been or not in my memory).

For Epcot, my husband always has to get fish & chips from the Yorkshire Fish Shop though this time I'm thinking to try the Tangerine Cafe. Thought about it last time, but wound up with a grilled chicken ceaser from Liberty Inn. We have done Sunshine Seasons for breakfast, though I'm still mystified that Disney bacon is so tasteless.... you'd thinking they would have been made more than aware by now and done something about it.

In HS, Starring Rolls... seems they have decent sandwiches for an early lunch, no??? Otherwise, my kids may enjoy Toy Story Pizza Planet just for the theming. I'm not betting any odds on the taste of the pizza :). Although it seems that Backlot Express occasionally gets good reviews...

Less than 2 months to go!! Hoping the heat doesn't kill us (though we live in north GA, so I can't imagine it being much worse there than here).

Wow Your family sounds like mine it's pregnant me, dh, ds4, and ds1. I just had to point that out. Now back to the food I'm not that much help but, we love hddr. We did cp fir dinner last year and were all very disappointed. The food was gross! The character interaction was good but, that is about it. So I don't think you're going to miss that one. We like the breakfast though. We love pecco bills for qs. You'll enjoy it not matter what. Sorry I couldn't be more help :)

dislover8943 - thanks for the info on CP!! Other than the characters, food reviews are mixed (plus we did it for bkfast last time). Especially with 2 little ones (my oldest, Nathan, is still 3 -- but will be 4 on 7/10), I figure getting rid of buffets makes dining easier and more enjoyable. So now, the only buffet will be Cape May Clambake.

How many weeks will you be on your trip? I'll be 29 but I think as long as I stay hydrated I will be fine, plus the exercise will be good :). Oh, and just found out the other day that we are having a girl, shocking but such a wonderful surprise!

best wishes to you on the rest of your pregnancy!

No problem. I love to try to help. Buffets are hard with little ones I agree. I will be 24 weeks. I think it's bearable though. I did it when I was pregnant with my 2nd and I still had a great time:thumbsup2. Afterall you can't have a bad time in Disney. That is awesome you're having a girl. I just keep telling myself it's probably a boy. I can't wait to find out though. Hope you have a great trip!
