Changing Lead Name on Reservation

If my mom makes a reservation under her name and cannot go, can the reservation be changed to my name or does it have to be canceled, and then I have to book (if it's even still open)?

Now I could be wrong and please someone correct me I believe it will be hard to change it but like I said I might be wrong. If it was me & I was unsure if lead person can make it but the rest can I would put the lead name in the person that is going for sure. Why not call Disney & ask? I have always call them when I have a question such as yours as I get it straight from them & I normally talk to a supervisor if I don't think the first CM is right. This is my view only. They can't change the name of the lead person on the reservation. However, the lead person doesn't have to be the one to check in.
