Hello,

We are a family of 5 travelling with another family of 5 and made all of our dining reservations for 10 people. The other party has decided to cut their trip a little short and and do some other things in Florida instead (I know, crazy :-)

When I call to change the reservations from 10 to 5, does anybody know if they cancel the 10 and try to rebook the 5 or do they change the number from 10 to 5 and keep the same reservation. There is also one reservation where they are not sure they are going to be there. What happens if we show up for a 10 reservation with only 5 people, in case they do not come?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried on line to see if there's availability for 5? If there is you can make that reservation and cancel the one for 10 people.

Either option could happen if you call. The CM might be able to reduce to number to 5 or they might say you have to make a new res. If that's the case I would keep the 10 and call back to speak to a different CM about changing to 5 or continue trying on line to find a reservation for 5. If it is not a restaurant that requires a CC guarantee you could also try for 6 since the reservation system seems to like even numbers more than odd.

I'd check online first like the purple figment said. If they don't have the availability online then call but tell the cm you want to "modify" your reservation. They have that option now, they can click modify and change the number. I had to do that with our trip last November and it all worked fine.
