Changing/dropping person from reservation

My parents are planning to take my two sisters (adults) to Disney in September. The problem is that if my one sister gets a teaching job she will not be able to go. I have no idea how changing/dropping/adding a person would work, especially if they get free dining. Any input on whether any of these options are possible?

- Booking for the 4 and removing my sister from the reservation if she can't go. (She should know a while in advance of the trip. But can they get their money back?)

- Not including her on the original reservation and adding her on before the trip. (Can you add someone on if you get free dining?)

- Taking someone else in her place. (Can you call a few weeks before the trip and change the name on the reservation?)

I would say the easiest is to drop her if she doesn't go.

The only problem we encountered in a similar situation (and free dining) is that the person who had to be dropped was the person in whose name the ressie was made. So make sure that the room is NOT in her name as the primary reservation person.

For example, if they are all sharing one room, have them put it in your dad's name, and then list everyone else.
If she and your other sis were sharing one room, put the other sis as the primary person, and list her as the secondary.
We were eventually able to drop the main person, but had to get a supervisor to do it (over the phone with CRO.)

Thanks.

I wasn't sure if they would refund your money if you removed someone from the reservation. They'll be sharing a room, so she won't be making the reservations.

My mom's suggestion was that they could take my oldest DD in her place, but we're going for two weeks in May and I'm not sure if she can miss school in Sept (or if I want to send her without me ;) ).

There are penalties based on date. So make sure that they all know what they are when they make their reservations. :)

We are going next week and are not sure my husband is going to be able to go. I am assuming it is a lost cause for plane and hotel but the park tickets will be unused so they should be ok. If anyone knows a way we can recoup the $$ that would be great.

bumping this for PoohBearFriends...

I hope your husband is able to go or you found out if you could remove him and not lose the money.
