Changing Days of Reservation

We are headed in Oct. I’m thinking of changing our trip by one day so we can take advantage of the late hours for deluxe/DVC resorts. Also better flights.

What is the best way to do this? Should I put a waitlist in for the days I want? If it comes through, can I set it up to cancel the exiting reservation?

Also, what if the one day I need pops as available. Should I just book it and then call to modify the existing reservation?

I don’t want to get screwed and lose my reservation if I do this wrong - I’ve seen that happen on the boards before…even my Member Services.

Many thanks!!

Just put in a waitlist for the one night. You don’t need to do anything with what you have.

If it fills, and is the same room type and resort, call or chat with MS to have them made into one reservation…assuming it’s all the same membership,

Same with stalking the website…if you get what you want, you can have things combined.

Ok answers my first question already, can see how the waitlist replaces an existing reservation.

I guess now just the second question, if just that day is available should I book it and then call member services to adjust the first reservation?

I don’t have enough points for the extra day without borrowing. But then when I cancel a day those will go back into the use year. I would just buy one time points but not sure that is an option.

Should I just borrow and then bank the ones freed up by cancelling the day no longer needed? Not ideal but I’ll use the banked ones the following year.

If the day you want becomes available, yes- I would grab it right away! & yes, I would borrow. Then, you can go modify your current reservation online yourself (removing the last day). That’s all that must be done.

However! Some accounts are having troubles borrowing… if you are one of those people, you would need to call in to MS to make the booking… in which case I would just buy the OTUP’s and be on my way 😉

ps. If you want to, you can chat with MS and have them link the 2 reservations, but I’ve never had a problem staying in the same room with 2 res’s, as long as you’ve booked the exact same room type (I just talk with the front desk after arriving & tell them I’d like to stay put- easy peasy).
