Changing Dates - Best Way?

I’m sure this has been asked, but I haven’t been able to find an answer. We may need to change our reservation dates. Can we just modify the dates or do I need to cancel completely and rebook? I’m nervous that we’ll cancel, go to book, and the second dates will be gone. What is the best way to do this? We used current and banked points. The vacation would stay in the current use year. Thanks!!

If you have enough points I recommend booking the second dates then cancel the first. If you don’t have enough points I think calling member services is best. They can hold what you want while they cancel your first reservation. Then apply your canceled points to the new reservation without any wait.

I changed a reservation using modify. I started the trip later and ended later. No problems.

This can be done by just modifying online as well.

Good to know! We may need to move back a few months. Hopefully, it will go smoothly.

Just use the modify feature. The system will not release the "old" reservation until the second one is booked. It will reuse the points from the first reservation - but will first use any banked or borrowed points if there are any sitting in your account . It won't do any new borrowing unless you authorize that and there aren't enough points in the old reservation to make the new one.
