I had a strange experience with member services this morning. We needed to change the dates of our 7-day Western Cruise on points from May 8, 2004 to April 24, 2004. We have a probable date conflict, causing the need to change. I had talked to member services last week, and was told that since we were so far in advance, it should be no problem to change - being made aware of the $75 change fee. We decided to go ahead and make the change, so I called this morning. The reservationist I talked to took my information, put me hold, and then told me that the April 24th cruise was no longer available for reserving with DVC points. I asked why - and she told my that DCL only alots a small number of cabins available for use by points, and that portion was sold out. I was looking at the calendar and trying to figure out my next alternative. I took a chance, and called again, getting another operator. He was able to make my change to April 24, 2004 without any problem. I didn't pursue asking him as to why the first person could not do this. Sometimes it's better to let sleeping dogs lie. Perhaps she was looking at April 2003, instead of 2004.
Moral of the story - if you don't like the first answer you get from member services - try again - you might get the answer you want from a different operator.
