Changing/cancelling reservation

If I have a RO reservation at CBR, then summer discounts come out and I want to rebook with a discount (let's assume in all cases there is a discounted room available), can I do that online via "change reservation" on MDE? Or do I need to cancel and rebook - in which case, could I do THAT online without calling?

What if same scenario, but switching from current CBR ressie to discounted POR? Could I just "change" online?

Does it matter if I put the deposit down with a gift card (which is still in my possession, with a balance on it)?

Basically, hoping to get a better rate when summer discounts come out, but I have a really hard time with phone calls and prefer to do it all online if I can.

One more thing, we already have tickets, should we wait to link them to our reservation until this gets sorted out? Would it confuse or mess things up to link them and then cancel the ressie? There doesn't seem to be an advantage to linking them yet anyway, as long as they are in there more than 60 days out, right?

Thanks for any info!

Yes, you can do all of that online with a room only reservation. Change dates, change resorts, cancel all together.

How you paid your current deposit won't matter.

No issue linking tickets. You're really linking them to MDE, not a resort reservation.

Hope that helps!

Yes you can do a change reservation online, as long as you have a link in MDE. I've done it successfully with 2 reservations. I have also cancelled reservations online successfully. Some reservations can not be changed online, such as those booked through travel agents, those booked with third party websites such as Orbitz and bounceback reservations also cannot be changed online. Those reservations do not have a change reservation link.

And as GADisneyDad14 said, the tickets are not related to your room only reservations, they are just tickets.

That does help, thank you so much!

And if for any reason MDE acts up while you're changing your reservation to chase a sudden discount (which happened to us last year due to a systems issue Disney was having), just go ahead and call. It's actually a pretty painless thing to do on the phone, too.
