Does anyone know if I go ahead and become a DVC member and am in the system before a planned December trip can I use my current points and transfer over my reservation at Coronado Springs instead of paying cash? Would I have to cancel my current reservation and then try and re-book? Also once an offer is accepted how long before points are available through re-sale vs. direct through Disney? Thanks so much for any help.

Point reservations may only be made thru Member Services. They will not be able to modify any reservation made thru CRO. Even if they could, they cannot convert a cash reservation to points. You could make a points reservation and then cancel the cash reservation afterwards so you'd know you have a reservation.

After the offer has been accepted it must be submitted to DVC for Right-of-Refusal and DVC has up to 30 days to decide. After that has cleared closing can continue. Once closed it usually takes about a week to be entered into the system.

Many have reported about 6 weeks from offer to being in the DVC system and able to make a reservation.

Good luck! :)

Depending on where and when you want to stay in December, availability may be a problem. If you decide to buy direct from Disney, you may want to ask your guide to help with your reservation request. Guides have been known to go all-out to close a deal.

You cannot simply convert an existing cash reservation to points. But you may be able to make a new points reservation and cancel the cash effectively doing the same thing. I've seen this done for DCL and even keep the same cabin.
