Changing an 11 month booking at 7 months.

I booked a HHI March stay at 11 months because I need a HA two bedroom and wanted to be sure we got it. I notice that some if not all nights are still available. I would like to switch out 2-3 nights using points from other resorts to free up the HHI points to bank into 2023. March is my UY.

I think the way to do this would be to book the 2-3 nights with other home resorts, then modify what I have to free up the HHI points. Then ask MS to link the two reservations so we don’t have to move. Is there a better way?

Some of the points in the original reservation were borrowed from 2023, and those I want to keep in the reservation. How do I assure they stay there?

Yes, book what you can and reduce the original. The borrowed points will stay in the trip, along with banked if you have them. Those are used up first.

If the points are all in the same membership, MS can actually combine both reservations into one!

If not, then you have to ask MS to link so you don’t have to change rooms.

Same membership, so once done, I will ask that they are combined!

I do this occasionally. It only works if the availablity is on the ends. If the nights are in the middle it doesn’t work. Lol. If my first 3 days are available I book with my 7 month points and modify the original by dropping those Days. However, I never combine right away. additional days May pop up, so you might be able to add more nights to the 7 month side.
