Changing a Skyauction Reservation

I won a RSG auction a long time ago, and have already made the reservation for our upcoming trip. I KNOW it is nonrefundable/nonchangeable, but having said that, has anybody tried to change an existing skyauction reservation to a different property?

I am sure the property we reserved will be fine (Orbit One) as it gets good reviews, however, a property that we stayed at before (and really liked) is now available for our dates. Is there any point to asking to change or are they very strict about the no changes policy?

I will be OK either way, we were happy with Orbit One when we chose it. It's just easier when you know what to expect from your own personal experience, KWIM?

It wouldn't hurt to ask. I won a skyauction once for a resort that was no longer available for my dates when the auction closed. I was able to get another resort for the same price that we were very happy to get. Good luck :wizard:

You are right, it doesn't hurt to ask! I sent an email right after I posted this topic, so I expect I will have an answer tomorrow. I know that skyauction is very quick to respond to email, and last year they were very helpful when we were booking our resort, as we needed to insure that there were enough units for our friends as well as ourselves.

I know the Lake Buena Vista area pretty well, as that's where we stayed on our previous trips, so I would be much more comfortable driving in that part of the city.

If not - don't worry Orbit One gets pretty good reviews - not great - just good.

It is not a big resort and it is just across the street (US192) from Sherberth Road - the back route into WDW.

I though about it for my next trip - but went with Vacation Villas at Parkway because they had a 1-bedroom. Orbit only has 2-bedroom. Doing a final call so it was cheaper to do a 1-bedroom than a 2.

I would be interested to know to I stayed at Orbit one last year and loved it, I got silver lake this year, but according to all the reviews I think I should go back to Orbit One. We loved Orbit One, not crowded not fancy but yet it was very clean and quiet, and close to disney

I have to say that I am impressed with the customer service at skyauction! We ARE allowed to change, but there is a change fee of $95.

We have decided to stay where we are, though, because the check in for the new resort is on Friday, and the check in for Orbit One is Saturday. As it stands, we have 2 nights at Sheraton Safari, followed by 7 nights at Orbit One. If we made the change, it would involve a reservation for one night (either at Sheraton Safari or at the resort itself), followed by the 7 nights thru skyauction, and then a 3rd reservation for one night (probably at the resort) for our last night. Even assuming we stayed the entire time at one resort (which, with the change fee would cost an extra $200.) that would still involve 3 separate reservations that would have to be linked, etc. Three reservations increases the chances of a snafu. If the check in dates matched the Orbit One check in, I would have paid the fee, and kept the first two nights at the Sheraton. Adding extra days before AND after just seems like I am asking for trouble.

Faye, If it's any help you can go to www.rci.com and click on the resort directory tab to see how Orbit One rates in the RCI system, if this is indeed Orbit One Vacation Villas. You probably already know about RCI, but if not, they rate the resorts from Gold Crown, Silver Crown, RCI Hospitality, and no rating. I'm a RCI points member, but the only resort I have exchanged into in Orlando was Orange Lake Country Club.

Thanks for the link! Although I couldn't figure out how to find the rating (perhaps you need to be a member for that?), I was able to read the reviews and they were very complimentary.

As I said, we were happy with Orbit One when we chose it, but have a higher comfort level in Lake Buena Vista since that is what we are familiar with. It sounds like we will enjoy Kissimee just as much!

you will love it even more - at the traffic light go straight - when you get to the next traffic light turn right - you are on Disney property - AK is on your left - this road becomes Ocsecola Parkway - so you turn off on it for the parks at the signs.

I just looked at the site and figured it out. Follow the tab for resort directory to Orlando (or anywhere). Next to the picture in the lefthand column are icons, one for gold crown, silver, hospitality, or no icon at all if the resort doesn't meet any of those criteria. When I hovered my mouse over an icon, it explained how it was awarded. :goodvibes

Did you ever say which resort it was to which you'd wanted to change?popcorn::

I didn't say, I was a little paranoid that if I said it was available, somebody would beat me to it! (It doesn't come up very often anymore.)

It was a 2 bdrm at Cypress Pointe.

Thanks for the tip on the RCI website, also.

Cypress Pointe is back to Gold Crown status so it seems to be getting harder even for RCI members to exchange into. I've heard a lot of nice things about that resort, and I think it has the perfect location. I know the Grand villas phase is still listed as a silver crown resort but I expect that to change in the future as well.

We're staying one week at Vacation Village at Parkway and almost one week at Cypress Pointe Resort this December. I was very happy to see that both are rated gold! Can't wait

FayeW,

I emailed Skyauction about doing the same thing (we are booked at Orbit One, but I wanted to change to CPGV because of the high-speed internet), and they replied that they would not change a booked reservation. I'm certain I said "please" and "thank you". Do you have any hints for me?

BTW, I think we both stayed at BSC last year -- we must be leading parallel lives! :rotfl2:

Thanks!
