I have 8 day free dining package for ASMU. We have to leave on 9/3 as school starts 9/4. I called an made a room only reservation with AAA discount for 8/23 - 8/26. IS it possible to call AAA and change the room only to a package with a 10 day tickets and then call Disney and change my free dining to the same days but with only a 1 day ticket? :confused3

I don't think so, but someone else could probably tell you for sure. If I remember correctly, AAA Room Only and AAA Packages are considered 2 different categories. And even if you cancel a AAA Room Only, there may not be any AAA discounted packages remaining for your dates.

Also, you can not stack discounts. It's either a AAA discount or Free dining. You can not get both, contrary to the fact that some people have thought they got both. The booking system only allows one discount code. There is one code for a AAA discount and one code for a Free dining discount. You can't do both.

IIRC you can just have your AAA as "Room only" BUT make sure you get 10 day tickets with your "Free dining" package.

I belive you can pick up those tickets early and use them BEFORE you "check in" for your free dining package.

That way, you can still get the first part of your trip with teh AAA discount and not have to invest in a one day ticket.

At least I Think I got that right!

It is one or the other free dining package or AAA room discount it isn't both. And I was told last year that you can not pick up your tickets early. Someone on here said you could but I tried with 3 different CM's and they said no. If you are there early and stay a night or 2 with only the AAA room discount and then check in for the free discount you still have to buy at least a one day ticket for everyone. We ordered our tickets early and used those for the 2 days before our dining package and just saved the one day tickets for another trip since they don't expire.

I may be missing something here but I don't think the OP was asking about stacking discounts. If I read the question correctly, she currently has two reservations, one room only through AAA for 8/23 - 8/26 and a free dining package with 10 day tickets for 8/26 - 9/3. The question, as I read it, is whether she can change the AAA room only reservation for 8/23 - 8/26 to a package with 10 day tickets and keep the free dining package for 8/26 - 9/3 but change the tickets to 1 day tickets. I don't see why this can't be done.

The answer is ... IT DEPENDS.

It depends on whether or not her level of room at her resort still has any "free dining" rooms left available for her dates of stay. Whether or not she has an existing reservation make sno difference whatsoever.

For each level of room at each resort, Disney has an occupancy rate in mind. If occupancy is below that number (let's say it's 80%, but I have no clue at all), then that means people can still use the free dining discount code. But if the occupancy rate for that type of room at that resort during those exact days is over their target rate (say 80%), then they won't offer the free dining for that room.

They believe they only need to have things "on sale" when they are not selling well. Once they are selling well, they no longer need to offer an incentive for people to buy.

For example, let's say you owned a fruit stand, and let's say apples last for only 2 weeks before going bad. You sell 10 different types of apples. If you only have 2 pounds of Red Delicious apples left because they've been selling well, then you're pretty confident they'll continue to sell well. But if still have 50 pounds of Macintosh apples left, you'll probably want to lower the price of those to try hard to sell them before they go bad. See what I mean???

As I read the question the OP never asked about adding free dining to the 8/23-8/26 AAA room only ressie, only whether it could be changed to a package that included 10 day tickets. The part of the reservation that included free dining would still be the same dates, 8/26-9/3, but the tickets attached to the package would be reduced to 1 day tickets. I don't know, maybe I'm wrong but that's how I read it.:confused3
