Changing a cruise date?

I would like to hear from anyone who has had to change their DCL cruise date (or destination?). We'd been going back and forth about changing the date because of scheduling issues, but my father-in-law passed away two weeks ago and we're not wanting to leave my mother-in-law during the time of year (December) that we'd planned to cruise.

Thanks!

I switched my date without any issues. Do you have specific questions?

Outside you PIF date, you can just call DCL or you TA and move the dates will not penalty. No problem

We changed our date from a nice inexpensive February to a very expensive Easter week because the kids ended up not having Feb vacation. I made the change long before our PIF date - as soon as the school year calendar came out. The bummer was that I couldn't get the cabins we had before!

we change dates "all of the time" ... we book our next cruise while onboard ... and we almost NEVER know when or where we are going. We always move the date of the phantom cruise before we get to the PIF / Cancellation penalty date ... and sometimes move it again!!!

Different rules if you are in concierge.

Thanks!

We're supposed to sail from Galveston to the Bahamas but I don't know if DCL is returning to Galveston in 2016 or not. Wondering if I can change the whole entire trip. We live in Colorado, so I'd be OK with shipping out of San Diego or Vancouver, too.

I almost wish we could scrap the whole thing... but I know we'll all feel better over time.

Yes, you can change to any cruise - does not need to be another cruise out of Galveston. As long as you change before the Paid In Full date you will not have any problem.

My last cruise was changed 3 times before I sailed last week. I just booked my next one before I left the ship and may or may not go then. It was really easy to do, especially since I use a TA and she handled it for me!

I spoke with DCL and they were really, really easy to work with. They also said we could cancel and get a full refund at this point, so that may be what we end up doing. I just can't deal with or plan a Disney vacation (or any other vacation) right now.

Sigh.

Thanks for all the responses. I appreciate it.

as long as you change before your PIF date, you can change anytime, to any cruise. After the PIF date it's considered a cancellation. You can cancel for a full refund as long as you cancel before your cruise's official cancellation date.

Not if you are booked in concierge. You may change, but you cannot cancel without losing deposit.

Be aware that when rebooking a cruise you will pay the current price for the new cruise. Depending on popularity and time since opening day this can be considerably higher than your original fare.

There is no penalty? When I made my reservation, the terms made it seem like we lost the deposit if we moved dates, even if we moved it before the PIF date. I'm glad to hear that's not the case in case we had to move for whatever reason.

If you book Concierge, as noted, you cannot get your deposit back, regardless of when you cancel. You can, however transfer the deposit to another cruise.

After the Paid In Full date, the deposit is forfeited on cancellations. Then the remainder of the payments, on a sliding scale, are forfeited the closer you get to the cruise date.

I just changed my cruise with no issues because I wanted a concierge room, got one. They just rolled over the money.
