Changing a bounce back reservation

Has anyone had any success dropping days off a bounce back reservation lately? I know last year Disney changed the way they do this so you could no longer just drop a few days. But I thought I had read some reports of exceptions being made by guest servicesor CRO. We have a package booked on a bounce back from rate for 9/10 - 17 @ YC. I found a discounted RPC room at GF the other night for 9/10-13, so we decided to do a split stay. I booked that right away while it was available. So now I need to either drop those 3 from my current YC reservation or rebook it. There is a discounted YC room available with the late summer promo on the website for the new dates I would need (9/13-17). Just tried calling CRO to alter my current reservation which would drop the 3 nights & the tickets. Of course, she said she couldn't change it; would have to book new.

In the past, regular call agents couldn't change bounce back reservations. So I kind of expected her to have to check with guest services anyway. I had her leave everything alone. I will book the discounted room at YC online myself. But my bounce back rate was 35% off while the current online discount is 30%. I'm just wondering if I should try calling back to see if a different agent will be able to make the changes.
