Changes to PS booking rules!

IMPORTANT CHANGES to the Priority Seating Policy!! Beginning August 4, the booking window for most WDW dining locations will be 180 days out for guests with a paid deposit on a Walt Disney Travel Company package and 90 days out for all other guests. The only exceptions to this will be specialized dining locations such as dinner shows, Lunch With a Disney Artist, Bistro de Paris, and Victoria & Alberts. A valid WDW Travel Company package booking number (with paid deposit) will be required when calling for a Priority Seating for more than 90 days out.

I wonder how this will effect holidays booked through travel companies in the UK, DVC owners, AP holders and room only bookings??

You could find that all the prime choice meal times and character meals have all been taken by the time the 90 day window comes up :(

Sounds like a very unfair system to me and will upset a lot of loyal Disney vacationers!

I have already booked my 120 day ps. It is good in a way cause I can get the rest of my ps booked on Monday instead of having to wait 60 and then 30 days. Don't know If I will be lucky in getting CRT for breakfast though!!!

Not happy about that at all. Won't affect us this time as we are all booked, but this strikes me as being very unfair.

When I first read the original post I thought it said people staying on site would get the 180 window. In a way that would make more sense.

Sounds like an own goal to me

Oh I don't like the sound of this at all. Does this mean that DVC members and people that book with UK tour companies cannot use the 180 day window?

I am hoping that somehow this latest info which has not been officially confirmed by Disney is wrong, but I know it won't be.

It seems that this is the latest in a long line of insults that Disney Management have bestowed upon those who love the Mouse.

KayleeUK if the info. is correct it looks like it will apply to DVC members and anyone who does NOT book their package through Disney's travel co.

We are staying at Old Key West in Dec. on DVC points so we will not be able to book our PS's until the 90 day window. In fact as our 120 day window is fast approaching, we have just been planning our PS's. Now I honestly feel that if our money isn't good enough to book our PS's at 180 days then we will eat counter service for lunch and go and eat dinner off site.

It does look like this is anti-everyone who doesn't book a package direct with Disney :(

In all honesty, the only PS's it will probably affect really badly is Cindy's breakfast and possibly Chef Mickeys at peak times. Looking on the positive side it means that some restaurants are actually available to make PS's at earlier than before and there is a rumour that Cindy's might be exempt from this because of the CC booking aspect - whether this is people just being hopeful or not remains to be seen.

Truly - I have eaten at a good number of WDW restaurants and only once have I made PS's at home before my trip (only because there was a large group) - everything else the PS has been made when I'm out there - and yes - that includes Cindys.

I don't think it's very fair, and I'm not to chuffed about it at all - but I don't think it will be as bad as it initially seems.

I just got this of the Dis restaurant forum:

From my newsletter. I got this info just before I was ready to send it out so I couldn't confirm it but, if true, should solve the DVC and AP complaints:

NEW INFO: Looks like anybody booked at a WDW Resort will be
able to call 180 days in advance. This is not fully confirmed
yet so stay tuned!!!!! So, this should cover the above groups
I just mentioned but again, this is not confirmed.

This includes room only reservations but you still will have to have a deposit down and have your reservation number with you when you book.

Plus, only 50% of the space will be made available at 180 days with the rest opening up at 90 days.

So who knows!

If that is true, then it will be good for DVC and folks who have booked direct, but people who have booked through a UK package holiday company (Vrigin, Thomson, Airtours etc.) won't have their WDW reservation comfirmation number.

when we booked the CBR through Airtours, I was worried about the state of CBR and called them to enquire (it was when they were refurbushing), anyway, she asked for my reservation number and I told her I had booked through Airtours and she was able to find my reservation on the system using my name and address, so there may still be hope.

Ok...please don't take this as gospel or by any means a certainty, but this is the latest that I have heard.

This will not include Cindy's or any of the recreational events like Illuminations Cruises.

It also seems now that this isn't just for packages, but for anyone staying on site - all people will be able to book PS's at the 180 days window - regardless of whether you are staying on an AP code or DVC. If you are staying offsite, then you'll be able to book at the 90 day window. I don't know if it includes the fact that a deposit has to be paid to qualify, but I don't think so as obviously no money changes hands with DVC reservations and they appear to be included

So things look all right in the world again (as long as you are onsite at any rate) - unless of course you've just found out that you can book PS's now rather than a month or two's time and you're all in a flap because you've not made up your mind about anything :p

All my PS seatings will open for xmas!! Got to get the busy days planned this weekend so that we can find somewhere to eat. Mum is VERY picky!!
