I got a call yesterday from DVC, he left a message. He said there are some small changes to our membership. Anyone else get this call? Have not gotten a hold of him yet.
Thanks!

Hmmmmm, I didn't get the call. Please post once you know...I'm very curious. Hopefully, it's good news!! :goodvibes

Might just be your potential new guide if your initial guide is no longer with DVC.

I never returned a call last year when my guide changed for the 2nd time last year. (1st time my purchase guide had passed away, 2nd time I think our "new" guide left DVC..) We now get generic DVC mailings with no guide name. not that we will be purchasing more shortly...

Check the members site I believe there might have been some kind of scam going on....I really didn't read it.

I am not a dvc member and recieved two missed dvc calls yesterday. I signed up for a free dvc dvd on monday I was hoping it was about this (trying to talk me into a tour or something) and not my upcoming reservation on rented points?? There was no message left.

ok they just called again, she told me she was mailing the dvd and then sneakily transfered me to a guide who wanted to mail me a brochure and talk to me about incentives. I just want to watch the dvd for fun, so much preasure. He asked where I was staying when i come down this year I told him I was staying on a friends points this year and he asked did they charge you? I said no! Tricky Tricky, he said I have nice friends hee hee.

DVC will not contact you about a reservation if you are not the member. What you received was likely a call from your guide to see if you had watched the sales video, and if you had any questions.

Grumpy~
Do you know what type of scam?
I did see some news things on the DVC site, but I was already aware of them.

It is not my orginal Guide. It is Ricardo. Maybe someone knows him.
He is not answering his phone today. Don't really want to leave a message, would like to talk to him on my time.

BEWARE!!! If DVC (or any company) wants to make changes, they are legally obligated to notify you in writing and give advance notice of changes. If you are receiving phone calls, I would assume someone is trying to scam you!

DVC may try to sell you additional points but my understanding is that they don't make "cold calls" and everything should go through the phone number listed on your card.

Be Careful!!! Jenn

Interesting. Wonder if I should just ignore them?

Call the 800 # on your card and discuss the situation with them. They need to be made aware that something might be going on. But yes, I would ignore the other person!

who is your guide? we got a call a few days ago from our new guide because our original guide has moved on.

I believe Ricardo was "our guy" at one point, but now it's Stephanie.

Maybe it was about the new points chart for 2011?

Just don't give or confirm any personal information if you did not initiatie the call and do not know the caller - no matter what they say.

I thought about this thread tonight, as our guide called, absolutely out of the blue, just to say hi and see if we had any questions. :confused3 DH actually talked with him, recognized his voice, and Jim didn't ask any questions of him other than if WE had questions...but still it was weird considering this thread!

Maybe this is what they are referring to .... I don't see the scam information on the members site anymore

Home Resort Rules and Regulations
Please review the revised Home Resort Rules and Regulations with changes pertaining to the rights and limitations of an Associate and a minor change to the Banking Home Resort Vacation Points section.

From the What's New section I see:

Fraudulent Letter/Phone Call Advisory

Members who receive a letter stating that they've won a "Travel Passport Cash Giveaway," should be aware that this is a fraudulent letter.

In addition, Members may receive an unsolicited call from someone who purports to be a Disney Vacation Club Cast Member.

....

Members who receive a phone call from someone purporting to be from Disney Vacation Club and asking for personal or financial information should not give the person any information if they doubt that the person is an authorized Disney Cast Member, and they should call their State Attorney General's Office. Members may confirm whether or not the call is from a Disney Cast Member by calling Disney Vacation Club at *la la la la la* and ask to speak to that Disney Cast Member.

Members are always welcome to contact Disney Vacation Club to verify the validity of a contest or offer.

Doesn't really seem the OP's message asked for personal info, and our guide just wanted to say "hi", so it doesn't really pertain, but that's what they have online!

The last three scenarios we saw such posts was when people with special view options were being moved. These were BW view, AKV concierge and AKV savannah view with no animals. You can do a reverse number lookup and likely get an idea of whether it's legit or not.
