Changes to Kilimanjaro Safaris coming

Honestly, I don't like the whole Little Red storyline and I never have. :confused3 I always just pretty much tune it out and enjoy watching the animals. I do love the music they play in the elephant area, though. That's my favorite part!

We were riding on Sunday and I told DH they should lose the story and just play the music the whole time. In order to keep the pace near the end, they could speed up the end with some line about the weather or animals on the move. The baby Red was especially out of place given that the spiel started right after we passed the REAL baby elephant. I kept wondering if any kid was actually listening and thinking it was the baby we had just seen. A little too realistic!

My grandson was confused by the real, adorable, baby elephant last week and Little red. He wanted to know if Little Red was real. I almost said no, but looked in his eyes and thought, "he's five, keep some magic"
I love the safari, ride every trip.

I kinda like the story...I guess I'm in the minority.

I like that it's made so kids can get a message. I guess I like cheezy things...I married a very cheezy man... :lmao:

If they change it, make it cheezier... :thumbsup2

I'm in the minority also. I wouldn't mind some updates and changes to the ride cause I've done it so much. But I do like it the way it is and I like the whole message it sends which is one of the things Disney does a great job at.

I have a friend who's 2 little boys came off the Safari telling everyone THEY had saved Little Red! Even on the bus that evening they still remembered the excitement of catching the bad guys. So cute!

On our trip last week, we noticed that the bridge moved a lot more than before!

Three, maybe four years back the bridge wasn't moving at all during our visit. We asked a CM why this was, and with a straight face she said it had been rickety in the past but had recently been repaired.

LOL! That's too funny! The moving bridge was the most exciting thing about the whole attraction...heehee.

Seriously, we like the Safari ride. I agree that the whole Big Red/Little Red thing needs to change. My kids always like to ride this, but I think I wouldn't be too disappointed if we skipped this on our next trip.

I predict that they will stop shaking the rickety bridge because some stupid parent doesn't hang onto their child who's standing on the seat and the child gets thrown out!

I would like to see more animals and movement during the ride, most of the time we do the safari, there is very little action taking place :confused3 , where are the animals.

I love this ride. We ride it at least 4 or 5 times everytime we go to WDW. Yes, the story line is a little cheesey, but it doesn't take away from the pure beauty of the "Safari" for me. I don't think I would enjoy it as much if our guide was spouting off facts and figures. I do love the music, and just the mention of it has the tune running non stop in my head. (Great, now I have voices in my head! :rotfl: )

A few years ago we had 3 rhinos who decided to walk in front of our truck, I don't mean cross the road, I mean walk down the road in front of us! It was so funny, the CM could do nothing except slowly follow. (He did report the animals on his radio though). They finally took the left fork of the road where we took the right. But for a good 4 or 5 minutes these rhinos were trotting in front of us, looking over their shoulders, stop, turn around, stare at us, then turn back around and start trotting again. It was the highlight of the trip.

I really think Disney did an amazing job with Animal Kingdom. The story line could be improved but, if it stayed the same I would still be riding it!

As a side note, our beloved Lucy, one of our 2 elephants at the Milwaukee Zoo, died yesterday at the age of 46. Must admit, I got a tear in my eye when I heard this. She was a beautiful elephant.
