From Screamscape:

It seems that a series of upgrades have started to appear at the Safari this month, with the promise of more upgrades to take place in the future. Now we don’t have any photos, but I’ve been told that Warden Wilson has been given a new airplane at the final scene. We’ve also been told that the bridge now moves a little more than before, and that they are testing a new wider 9th row added to the back of Safari #43. Unlike the 5-6 riders per row, this extra row is said to hold 6-7 riders, including some kind of “jumper seat” that sticks out on the drivers side. This is just a test right now, but if it works out, a 9th row could be added to all of the cars. Other future changes we can expect to see includes new “roofs”, a few script changes, leading towards a possible project big budget project (if approved) that would bring in many more changes. After all these years, it certainly would be a good thing to refresh the park’s iconic Safari ride.

Very interesting. I noticed the bridge moving more and I think expanding the vehicles would be great due to the slow load times with this ride.

On our trip last week, we noticed that the bridge moved a lot more than before!

We also had a super CM giving us a ride -- her name was Michele and she was fantastic!!!!!

Sounds cool can't wait just 4 more weeks till I get to feel the bridge move for myself. :cool1:

I'm sorry to say that even my kids are bored with it, too. I'm actually disappointed in myself for even posting that, but it's true.
Whenever I think of that ride, I think of Little Red and then I think how it looks like Jungle Cruise and how old Jungle Cruise is.
There's a whole world of ideas that the Safari could go with. It's definitely time to change the story line.
Maybe add an Alien Invasion? Maybe some cattle mutilations? :rotfl: (Just kidding, it's 12:40 a.m. and I'm a little kooky right now)

Honestly, I don't like the whole Little Red storyline and I never have. :confused3 I always just pretty much tune it out and enjoy watching the animals. I do love the music they play in the elephant area, though. That's my favorite part!

I have always enjoyed that ride. I remember a few years ago we stayed at a hotel near the airport on our last night, at the restaurant we had a waitress who worked that ride at AK as her primary job. She told us that they have a hard time enticing the animals to be active in the hot months because the rock formations are all airconditioned and the animals hang-out there. I check that out all the time since she told us that!

Let's get some of the animals charge the vehicles or have the lions be able to get past the boundries. That would spice things up a little bit. :) Although during the summer I would probably stay on their air conditioned rock and just watch people go by as well.

I agree. When we went back in 2002, everytime we would finally see an animal, the CM would jerk the vehicle and take off. We rode first thing in the morning, so they were out, but didn't get time to take it all in because the vehicle seemed to only stop where there was nothing to see :confused3 .

This year we are only planning to go to AK to ride EE (can't wait!) and a quick trip to Dinoland to ride Dinosaur and DD loves Primevil Whirl (the puker, I call it).

maybe they will let guests swim with the crocs and/or hippos to cool off from the florida heat :rotfl: But, seriously something that the indianapolis zoo does that is really cool is they allow guests to feed the girraffes slices of sweet potates. You are not allowed to touch them they are very shy. They do this at scheduled times and they charge $1......I just think it's such an incredible experience.

NOW YOU'RE TALKIN'!!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl2: popcorn::

I don't like how bouncy and jerky it is and the Little Red thing...zzzzzzzzz...it would be great if it was just a safari.

We went on the Safari twice in May. The first time, the bridge was normal, but the second time, it shook a lot crazier than normal. Seems like they've been testing it since then! :) I agree that, they should nix the whole dumb storyline, and have the "guide" a little more active with the guests and not with a dumb computer radio.

We don't go to AK for the Safari, we do much better going to Lion Country Safari in West Palm. But we do enjoy, but it could use a refresher.

The storyline as corny and silly as it is does serve a purpose, just like the bridge, fake trees and ostrich eggs. You can't control the animals; you can control those other things, so even if you don't see ANY animals you will still be somewhat entertained.

That's it! I love it!!! The part they actually use on the ride doesn't start until pretty far into that, but that's it.

I'd be really happy if they'd ditch the stupid storyline totally and just play cool music and let the guides talk about the animals.

Thanks, Dan. You made my morning! Paul even recognized it. He just said, "Mommy, that's the elephant song!" Maybe he's been to Disney World too many times . . . :scratchin

NAH! :yay:

I really love going on the safari but I do wish that they would ditch the whole big red/little red thing. It really is old and takes away from just seeing the animals. Dan thanks for the song. Love it. :cool1:

They could if they'd stop eating each other! Don't they realize it's not REALLY Africa! :smooth:
