We are 19 days out from a week stay at the WL!! We are so excited. The plan is to leave on Friday afternoon and drive about 6 hours and spend the night along 95 and finish the drive the next morning. Out reservation at the WL starts on Saturday. I however, am not sure we will not be too excited to stop, and just might go all the way. It the past we have always left Saturday morning and drove straight through. If we indeed do go the whole way, what do you think the chances of us getting a room at one of the All Stars for that one night(Dec.5)? We would be moving to WL that next morning. Would they move all our lugage for us to the WL by us just staying there that one night? Thanks for any insight.

I saw a post that all of the resorts are booked solid for that weekend. I would call and ask for availability before you go so you know what your options are. You may have to look for an off-site resort.

I would look for an off-site that you could cancel before 6:00pm if you won't need it. You can look up around Altamonte, there are some really nice places up there for a lot less than WDW area prices, and because they cater to more of a "business" traveler, they often have excellent weekend specials.

On a Saturday morning you're probably looking at about a 35 minutes drive from Altamonte to WDW.

There is an Embassy Suites up there that includes a full, cooked-to-order breakfast in the morning. They have a nice indoor pool, which would be great to let the kids run off some steam in before bed.

Normally there would be a good chance of a walk in during early Dec, but I am planning a trip starting on the 6th and I can tell you room are scarce that weekend. I couldn't get one at swan/dolphin/CBR. Got one at AKL. There is a cheerleading contest and the mega mouse meet and some other conventions that week/weekend. SOme resorts had rooms, but only if you'd stay 3 nights. There is a place for last minute off sight resevations that you have to go to in person, but I can't remember what it's called. You may want to stop there. If you are interested, I'm sure someone on the board will know what it's called

Back in Feb 2001, we did the same thing. We decided to drive straight through - couldn't wait to get there. So we stopped at the visitor's center in Ocala. They were able to get us an additional night at Fort Wilderness (where we were staying) even though it was all booked. It was wonderful. We were just going to find a resort offsite for the night, but we didn't have too. We got an additional night at WDW!! Good luck and here is some pixie dust :earsboy:
