Changes in Lattitude, Changes in Attitude! TR For Wonder 7/10/2008 3 Night

Time to go!!:sad1: At this point I was sooo glad that I had a couple of days at DW to look forward to, or else I would truly be depressed. There is just something about a cruise that is unlike any other vacation. We have always just taken 3 or 4 day cruises in the past. Now we're ready to go longer--much longer! I had scheduled a wake up call the night before, although I was up before Mickey ever rang our room. We were up and ready for our breakfast at Triton's before they had ever opened the doors. At breakfast, I ate as slowly as I could. I wanted to linger just a bit longer. Unfortunately, we were still done by 7:30. At that point, we just walked right off the ship, rounded up our luggage with little problems, breezed through customs, and were on our way. I sadly stared at the ship as we walked across the parking lot to the Budget shuttle that was waiting for us. It was already over! After all the planning and anticipating!! By 8:15 we had our rental and were on our way to Kennedy Space Center. I don't have much to say about that part of the trip <big yawn>. It was for DH and DS. They enjoyed it though. The most memorable part of the trip was when DS and DD were horsing around while waiting for the shuttle bus to take us back to the visitors center--she ended up busting her lip wide open. There was blood. Lots of blood. And a highly freaked out 5 year old, and a highly remorseful 9 year old. Such are the things that vacations are made of!

Since this IS the cruise forum, I'll keep the rest of the trip brief. We still hadn't told the kids about DW. As we drove through the archway on the road DS said, "Why are we at DisneyWorld? Are we at DisneyWorld? What are we doing at DisneyWorld?" DH decided to let him off the hook right then and there. They were truly surprised, and extrememly excited. We stayed at the Beach Club. It is a nice place with a great location. I will say though that there were parts of it that seemed a bit "worn"--furniture and some of the carpeting were beginning to show age. But our room was big and very nice, and we had our own balcony. (After the ship, we'd come to expect no less!!) The Boardwalk is within walking distance, and has tons of choices of places to eat. Let me say something about the dining plan here: the way I had it figured it was a decent deal for us. BUT, they really need to simplify how they determine what's included, what's not, and how you can keep up with what you've used and what you've got left. I'd suggest just making some kind of all-inclusive package like the cruise has. Sure, it might cost more, but I'd pay more not to have to worry about what was considered a snack or a counter service meal. The day we were to leave, we still had 3 counter service meals left--but since it was early morning, we had had breakfast and they didn't have any lunch foods out yet, all we were allowed to get were 3 bags of chips.(!) That sure wasn't equivalent to 3 lunches. We returned our rental car to the Budget location at the DoubleTree the next morning, and had planned on taking a shuttle bus on to the MK, but waited 20 minutes, and when the shuttle finally showed up, it was full and kept on going. We grabbed a taxi and were there in 10 minutes, and it only cost 10 bucks for the 4 of us. We got to the MK early and were able to ride most everything before the lines got too long by lunch time. We had to wait about 20 minutes for Dumbo, then about 1 hour for Peter Pan's flight. After that we decided to call it a day. Don't take small kids on Stitch's Great Escape DD was terrified. They strap you in a seat, Stitch is going crazy and is on the loose, then they kill the lights. To be quite honest, I was a bit uneasy myself!! The next day we went to Epcot--walking distance from the Beach Club. The only thing we didn't get to do was the test track--which was what DS really wanted to do the most. We had fast passes, but it started raining and we were unable to get on the ride. Summary--I am soooo glad my kids can now say they've been there and done that. But as far as ride being awesome, I personally feel you can get that at alot of other parks. When we were leaving Epcot it was pouring, and a kind stranger offered DS a poncho.:thumbsup2 Thanks for that!

Thanks for the great report and the picture link too. Very nice shots.

Thanks for sharing your trip with us. I looked at the pictures. Your kids are adorable. I loved the Mickey ears on you DS in the terminal. Your DD braids came out beautiful and they looked like they evne lasted for the WDW trip too.

Yes, we are from Kentucky. My family and I live in Letcher county. About a 3 hour drive from Lexington. What about you guys? Oh my, what a small world it is?

That is sooo bizarre!! We are from far western KY, near Paducah. I wish we'd had more time to chat! Let me know when you get your trip report done, I'd love to read it!!

Thanks for the great trip report. My DD8 and I are going on a 4 day next month. I was wondering about riding the bikes on CC mid-day. Was it too hot or is it a little breezy because of the trees?

It was a little hot--they have water stops along the way. It wasn't unbearable though. I don't recall much of a breeze either. So it all depends on where you from and what you consider HOT! It was hotter here in KY when we got home than it had been down there!
