We have a condo down near Disney/192 area and in March and earlier this week were able to reserve the virtual cue for Jimmy Fallon at the condo on Universal app. I got on this morning to check available times and there was a message that only people in the park can reserve in the cue. We went to Aashirwad Indian Restaurant for lunch which is pretty close to Universal on Kirkman Rd and it still didn't work. This is disappointing since normally I would make a late day reservation on my phone from the condo. Then when my husband and I would go together late in the day we can go. I don't normally bring my phone in the morning since I don't like having to use a locker. When I've been going to Jimmy Fallon in the morning the kiosk return times were only in the morning. I'll check it out tomorrow.

I revoked the location permissions from the Universal app, and I've been able to get into the reservation area (but didn't try to complete it) from Massachusetts. Today, it won't let me in because it says it doesn't have location permissions. Probably a good move.

*queue :D

I'm not surprised that they've tightened this up. I can imagine that there might have been a fair number of people (well-intentioned or not) who were making reservations from offsite and then not showing up, thereby preventing others from using spots that should have been available to reserve.

It will be interesting to see whether Universal ever lets us link our park tickets to the app (did I read somewhere that this might become a thing??)... and whether a linked park ticket might get you access to the virtual queue even if you're not on property at the moment??

There's an option to link your ticket in the app now. Haven't tried it yet....

Update - I just found out this morning that it lets you reserve from the I-4 ramp at that light right before you turn to the park. This way you can make a late day reservation and not have to bring your phone in. Great for me since I can walk on early morning then go back later in the day at my reserved time.

I just tried from my office (about 10 minutes) from the park and it told me I was out of range. Glad you can reserve outside the park...I doubt I'll pay too much attention...my memory is not what it was. :rolleyes1
