Yes, that happens all the time. It may be a glitch, it may not. Sometimes it's just a quirk in the reservation system
One thing to watch when looking at a promo rate, the room only booking system will show you available rooms for a resort even though every night is not available at the discount rate.
You won't always realize this unless you pull down the per night breakdown on the check out/payment page. Always check as there are times where you can see weekend rates revert to full price, even though the weekday rates will be discounted. This will happen when the weekend has sold out at the promo rate but the weekdays are still available. Used to, it would just not show any nights as available but now, it will show it, but the total will be skewed.
For instance, right now I have July 17-21 booked at BWI CL at an AP rate for every night. However, if I go to book a new reservation for the same dates, only July 17, 18 show at the AP rate, 19, 20 come up at rack rate. I just happen to be playing around with dates and dropped a day but the price went up. I was curious so I went to check as a new reservation for the same dates and same thing, weekend was now rack rate (it's now sold out)
So what I have found is that sometimes it will show a resort as unavailable just because some of the nights are not available with the promo and other times it will show available but give you 2 different room rates.
Honestly, I hate calling so much during the 2 years I couldn't change reservations, I would book new reservations and cancel the old ones rather than call to change. Because honestly, often, what you see is what they see anyway so if you see it unavailable during "change reservation" they may too. Then you have to convince them to check harder and sometimes, if you get the outsource call center, you will be better off banging your head against a wall.
