Great, thank you. It's Friday morning here and a 3-day weekend for most since Monday is Memorial Day, a federal holiday. May take a trip over to Ikea tomorrow since they have their "spend $100 eat for free" deal. Mmmm Swedish meatballs...

Well, you know I think this is great news, but I completely understand that you have mixed feelings and you're both proud and worried. He's your little boy who's now grown-up and has become a man.

He's gotten a great job that will provide him with solid skills and hands-on experience and he did this all on his own. The benefits are great, such as the GI Bill, if he needs that and I'll tell you, DH and I love that at 42 DH already had an Air Force pension. We have no regrets and I know you'll be feeling much better as soon as he has his first assignment orders and you know where he'll be stationed.

Is he being commissioned (officer) or did he enlist? Does he know what his job training (AFSC-Air Force Specialty Code) will be? Don't forget that there are many military bases in FL so maybe he'll get stationed there and you can stay with him when you go to WDW!

I think you've done a great job of raising a true patriot, Kitty, we salute him. Again, feel free to PM should you have any questions.

He's 22. He enlisted as he never went to school. Has worked fulltime with his Dad up until now. He signed up to be an air traffic controller or an electrician of some sort. Will probably go to Texas as soon as Sept. He will probably do the 6 year plan but wants to make a career out of it.

I will be putting the Air Force proud parent sticker on my car today..........he's still my baby so I really have mixed feelings (his gf is upset) and I'm not even a "helicopter" mom!!!
