Change name on a reservation?

I am planning to book a cruise for 2010, using DVC points. I need to book now to make sure we get our daughter's school vacation week, but there is always a great question of my husband's availability based on a very unpredictable work schedule. If I book now and then he is unable to go, could I change his part of the reservation to someone else? Is there a fee to do this? How far in advance would I have to do it (if it's allowed)? Any help anyone could give me will be appreciated

Doing a name change on a regular reservation isn't difficult and there is no fee if it is done as explained in the DIS DCL FAQ thread. However, DVC is a totally different thing and they do have a per person fee for any change made. I would find out exactly what would happen in that situation from the DVC CS number.

You would pay MS a $95 to remove your DH from the ressie. If you add another person at the same time, they may waive the second fee to add someone at the discretion of MS. If you add later, then another $95 fee will apply.

Keep in mind the first two people in the room are charged as adults regardless of their age. Also, if you add someone age 17 and under, the availability will be checked based upon the age group possibly being filled.

Thank you, Carol Ann. I'm glad to know that: A) a change can be made if necessary and B) It will cost $95.00 . Of course we're hoping that the three of us will be able to go (our other kids are grown), but unfortunately it may happen that he is not able to get away. It's good to know that we can take someone else for a $95.00 fee . Thank for the info!
