I am currently waitlisted for an OKW one-bedroom. I called today to try and expand the places I am waitlisted for, and was told the waitlisting policies had changed.

First, I was told that if any of your choices became available the reservation would automatically be confirmed and points taken from your account; DVC would no longer call you and confirm whether you wanted the reservation. Also, all of your other waitlist options would be canceled. (So if I am waitlisted at BCV and OKW and BCV came open, they would automatically book me at BCV and cancel my OKW waitlist.)

Also, I was told that you could no longer waitlist day-by-day; I had to waitlist for the entire period I wanted to stay.

Has anyone else heard of this?

Yep. We've been talking about it on the DIS for a couple of weeks now. I got a email from DVC today that covered the changes. The days of multiple wait lists are gone. What's next, fixing the multiple ADRs? :cool1:

Ok, I guess need to learn to work search a little better:lmao:

I was hoping I misunderstood.

I found this out and I actually agree with it 100%. So you waitlist for the place you want to stay most, then the list goes down. Now if say the waitlist comes through for your 3rd choice, you get it. But you always have the option of then going back on the waitlist for the place you want the most.

Sounds like they are trying to streamline things and make it less work for them. Which should in turn lower expenses on the back end.

I had an SSR reservation for 6/21, waitlisted for BCV, VWL, and BWV. Kept watching online and decided to call when the computer/website conversion was happening, and they told me my waitlist came through for BWV, so I took it, and they said I could keep waiting for BCV and VWL. But decided to try BWV.

Waitlist for DUMMIES:
Quick clarification please: If I booked BCV for Dec.1-8 but would like to stay at VWL for that time frame but not currently available. If I waitlisted for the VWL and days Dec. 3rd and 4th come through am I automaticly dropped from the 3rd and 4th at BCV? Or is it if the waitlist for the entire week comes through the will automatically drop BCV and do all of the VWL?
Thanks
Chris

Does anyone know what happens if you want the waitlist to replace a reservaation you already have? For example - have 4 nights at OKW and am waitlisted for any 3 consecutive nights of that week at VWL to replace it if possible. I went on the waitlist prior to the new policy taking effect and want to be certain they don't just borrow points thinking it is a second reservation not a replacement. Guess I better get on the phone and find out how it will work. Nothing was said about it being a replacement for the OKW one when I requested the waitlist. I did tell them I wanted to be called not auto confirmed and the CM said okay.

I'm guessing that if you only waitlisted for certain dates and they came available, they'd automatically switch just those dates. I think it would be entire length of stay unless you specified that you only want to waitlist certain dates. Anyone know for sure?:confused3

I was told day-by-day waitlisting was no longer possible. So if you wanted to waitlist your entire stay, you would only come off the waitlist if all nights were available.

if you have a ressies at BCV and you are on the waitlist for the same dates for the VWL, because you would rather stay there, if your waitlist comes thru for the VWL, VWL would be automaticly book. Now you have 2 ressies, BCV & VWL. the problem with this, if its less then 30 days of arrival the points used for the BCV will go into holding. If you dont have enough points to book the VWL, you would have had to agree to used borrowed points at the time of the waitlist, your points will be borrowed from next use year and if you cancel the VWL, the points will remain in the current use year, not put back into the borrowed use year. then you would still have bcv points when you cancel and you may or may not be able to bank those points, depends on your use year and banking deadlines.

i say you really have to know every angle of this new waitlist rule before getting your points messed up. This is for any dvc member that waitlistd on or after June 1.

Well we've always done auto confirm and they just switched the reservation. We've never been double-booked. We've done 4 waitlists this way.

We did auto confirm and had to borrow 13 points if it came through. It did and no problems with point totals or double booked reservations.
