This past weekend we were at Vero, it was 72 points for 4 nights, Sat to Wed (ocean view Inn room). Next year, the same Presidents weekend, is 98 points! Anyone know why the difference?

Don't know why it's up, there has to be a reduction some where else to cover this.

How are you coming up with the 98 points? I just checked the DVC web site, and its 33 points for the Saturday plus 13 * 3 for the Sun, Mon, and Tue for a total of 72 points both 2004 and 2005. All of February is Magic Season and there has been no change.

I had noticed that too. It seems that in 2005, they have put Feb 13-28 into Premier Season, rather than Magic Season, which it had been. The 13th is a Sunday in 2005. This boosts the per weeknight price up to 18 pts for the Ocean View Inn Rooms.

Our solution to this: go over MLK weekend, but d'oh! we have a February UY. Oh well.

Hmmm!! I was using the points manager, I just downloaded the 2005 points, I will check with the DVC webstie then, this is good news!! I started to smell an add-on a Vero if this was the case!

Ralph&Pam, I did the same thing, but if you look there are 2 colums, one for 2004 one for 2005 and they DID move the dates around. I just checked and in 2004 there were 40 nights in MAgic and 57 in Premier, and 2005 has the same 40 and 57. I think Easter is early next year, that may be why.

ralph and Pam - I just double checked, they did move the points around! Bummer!

The points for Premiere Season are based on when Easter falls (setting spring break).

In 2004, Easter is April 11. Premiere Season runs from Feb. 29-April 17. In 2005, Easter is earlier -- March 27. Premiere Season is backed up to start Feb. 13 and runs through April 2.

If you travel in February-April, the point requirements will shift slightly every year.

If you want to stay "this" weekend next year -- Feb. 12 is Sat. and still in Magic Season -- 33 points. Sun, Mon, and Wed nights will be in Premiere Season at 18 points per night. Total 87 points.

Without having a planner guide in front of me, those were my thoughts Pam....that Easter is earlier next year which means the Premier Season starts sooner....the good news is though that means it ends sooner :D

Yes, indeed. April 2005 is a good year to travel. :) :)

Unfortunately, Presidents Day is February 21, so the kids will eather be off that entire week, or a few days before and after!

It just occurred to me that, thousands of years after the "fact", the Angel of Death(tm) visiting Egypt is still screwing up the World. *sigh*

Then Saturday, Sunday, Monday, Tuesday out on Wednesday will run you 98 points.

Yes, it's due to the shift around the Easter dates.

Those of you who are using my DVCPlanner program will note that it correctly puts all those February dates for 2004 and for 2005 into their correct seasons respectively. And many of you have installed and have been using the planner long before Disney ever published it's 2005 point chart.

I first calculated and published point charts (In the original Excel version of the planner) in 2001. It was in 2001 that I developed point charts for a 10-year span, using Disney's patterns for adjusting the Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas dates. As Disney published their 2002, 2003, 2004, and 2005 charts, my original calculations were all 100% correct.

Disney has not changed their patterns.

If you want to check anything from 2001 through 2010 then download the planner (see link below). They'll be accurate as long as Disney continues using the same patterns that they've been using since 1992.
