Change in Mission Space

I was a happy girl when they didn't bring us back to Earth!!! The ride to Mars was all I could handle. I'm glad I rode it once, don't think I'll be trying it again!! :earseek:

Our "trip to Mars" was delayed . . . a grown man was sitting in his own puke!!! :guilty: Poor guy, I felt bad for him. Of course, they put us in a different "capsule"!! ;)

LOL you and me both!

I was SO greatful when Gary Sinease came on and told us it was over, LOL.

I can do the biggest, tallest roller coasters, but stick me on the teacups and I'm a sick boy. I did M:S once to say I did it, but don't think I will return again.

It wasn't just the spinning, either - it was the tiny little box they seal you in to! I am not claustrophic in the least in "real life" - when I was a kid my mom would find me curled up sleeping in the back of the closet. My honest fear was that the ride would get stuck and you are sealed in this box for god-knows how long!

I don't think it's a bad ride, it just wasn't for me.

N.E.D.

I really enjoy sitting outside the exit and watch people come out in varying stages of "distress". And I've yet to see ANYONE go around to get on again--even when there was no line.
Should note that Mrs. Uncleromulus likes the ride and always gets on--once.

I'm glad to hear that. We went before it was officially open and if it were the same I would not get it on again; but if you think they have toned it down I will give it another shot. I didn't spew anything but it wasn't exactly enjoyable

I would take each to its own on personal judgement. I have heard that it was toned down since the soft openings due to the sick issue.

If it is not a ride for you--skip it---this is not a ride for everyone.

Me, me!!! Dd and I both rode once and went right back on. However, dh can only do it once a trip. Gives him a queasy tummy and a headache. The only time it has bothered me to the point where I thought, maybe, just maybe, I would lose my lunch was when I ate lunch and literally went on. That was about the 10th time I'd ridden it, so figured no problem. Wrong. I would say to leave an hour or two between eating and M:S!!!

We were there the day if 'officially' opened in '03. And there were people getting off that were 'green about the gills' so to speak. And plenty of 'cleaning up' by the CMs. In fact, right up to our last trip in Nov'04, we had to wait for a capsule to be cleaned up. We also talked to various CMs in '03 about M:S and whether or not it was toned down. Evidently they changed the visuals several times before they got it 'right'. Many CMs who were guinea pigs can tell you some pretty yucky stories about them getting it 'right'. I would think that those that can't take tea cup spinning would know enough to stay away from M:S!!!! It's the TeaCups spinning to the nth degree, in a closed in tight little area. Definatly not for some folks!!

If you visit early-mid November you will see this crazy family riding multiple times. DS (9) will be "yahooing" all the way.

I went on MS for the 1st time in DEC of 03 and when I got off I felt sick for about 2 hours. Then in Sept of 04 I went back with my family and they wanted to ride MS so I went again. This time it was not as bad. Cant wait to ride it again May 3rd.

Well DH and I rode it in Sept. of '03. We both had headaches for a few hours afterward. The last 2 trips we have told the boys they were too short and avoided the whole thing. Now that I know they have toned it down I will ride it next trip. The boys are tall enough but DH and I just didn't want to ride it again.

I had no problem last year when I rode. I don't get motion sick but DH does, so I had to go as a single rider. I would love to ride again but now I have a fear of the stranger sitting next to me not getting to the barf bag in time and throwing up on me! That would just be too much for me to handle.

DW, DD 13, DD 10, and I rode MS in February of last year. I'm glad we rode before reading posts like these. It wouldn't keep us from riding, but I would have been nervous about my DD's getting sick.

We all thought it was great. Not sure my DW will ride again though.

I have read that older people have been taken to the hospital after riding MS. Since they have toned it down a bit has this still been happening. When we went last year I would not let me 74 year old monther ride this ride. She rode everything else and had no promble with anyother ride.

Like I said earlier we got to ride it before it officially opened and we crash landed on Mars. The End. I take it that has cahnged. And barf bags? They have those now? I'm so bumbed that it's been toned down. DH and I thought this was the most amazing, exhilerating (SP) ride we've ever been on. And yes we got of and right back on after waiting in only a short line. I hope that I'm not disappointed when we are there in July.

THe funny thing is this ride didn't bother me, but I can't handle Star TOurs and Body Wars. WHat's up with that?

I don't know how many people get sick, but my DH has riden MS twice and has been sick twice. I told him that he is not allowed to ride it anymore.

However, my Father in Law (83) rode it with me and LOVED IT.

Go figure.

No , that hasn't changed. You still crash on Mars. I think what people are saying is that they are glad to be left there...rather than enduring the flight back to Earth again!! And I have to say that, as I said before, we were there the day M:S officially opened in '03. And we have ridden it many times since then. I don't think it has changed one iota since then. Now, I am pretty sure that they did some fine-tuning after the CM's rode it and before/during/after the 'soft' opening, before August '03. I have not seen any lessening of intensity since that first ride.

I think some people just have a problem with this type attraction. I believe that there are some that think that even if the TeaCups bother them, this ride won't be the same, since they can't actually 'see' the spinning. But, it's still there. And your inner ear knows it's happening!!!

I chickened out on MS my first trip to Disney last year. I will ride any thrill ride, generally, but I did not want to spend my only day in Epcot sick all day. The people I was with will not ride the roller coasters and stuff but they rode MS.....and messed with me about not riding it. Hey, I'm not scared of it, I just feel like I'd probably get sick!

I have lots of sinus/inner-ear problems and get a headache if you look at me hard. I also have a hard time with any of the motion simulator rides. Star Tours makes me feel a little nasty for a while afterwards. So, I wasn't about to risk MS!

I REALLY want to ride it when we go in August but I'm still worried that either I'll feel crappy afterwards OR I'll be unlucky enough to get puked on.....which would be the worst. :sad2:

HockeyChick - I get sick when I ride Star Tours, Back to the Future, and the like. I won't go near the Teacups. I even get sick when I'm at some movies, like an Omni-theater, or some of those "Circle 360" movies at EPCOT. I've also had sinus infections and inner ear problems. So I had the same concerns about riding MS, but I really wanted to try it.
I tried it last year when we were there, and had no problems. I was very happy for the cool air blowing on my face. I even rode it a second time, right after the first time. You won't know how your body will react unless you try it. (I rode it on a practically empty stomach, right before our PS's for the Princess Storybook Breakfast.)

Barf Bags?!?!

When we did MS back at Thanksgiving 2003 I don't recall any barf bags!! What a gip!! And for the poster whose DD wanted to know if she could have one for a keepsake...I'm with her!

I am one of those folks who can't stand the teacups well...I have been known to turn the color of a sprite bottle when spun excessively. But, I handled MS well enough thanks to my dramamine. I just felt like my chest was smashed through to my back.

MS may or may not be on our list of TO RIDE in June...only reason I think I'd like to go back is to grab a MS barf bag....

I feel as if though I'm missing out on something. I NEVER get sick on anything, ANYTHING. I ate at the freaking Biergarten before M:S and nothing happened. I feel that if you aren't sick, you aren't having as much fun as you should be.

But that's just me.

Well, I wish you happy heaves then!
