Change In Fantasmic & Fantasmic Packages

Starting in January 2009 Disney will make an adjustment to their operation by offering Fantasmic! only on select evenings each week. Fantasmic! will be performed two times weekly –generally Mondays and Thursdays - and more often during the busier times of the year.

This may help those planning their 2009 trips.

Yikes! All I've been reading about Fantasmic is that if you don't do the dining package that you have to arrive an hour ahead of time for a decent seat....and that's when they have a show every night and sometimes a second show too. Can you imagine a week's worth of people trying to cram into two nights!


Ok...checking my planner to be sure I have this scheduled at least twice this winter....better be positive I get to see it this time around because next year may be just too much crowds!


I wonder if they'll also expand the package seating......maybe they are trying to go more towards "buy dinner first"? We are planning to eat hot dogs at the theatre, cheap, great people watching time and a chance to sit for while. Maybe too many are doing that and the restaurants aren't full enough?

I suspect this means they are expecting much smaller attendance in the future, probably due to the economy. They must think they can fit it all into 2 nights. Wow, that's quite a drop off.

I'll have to keep that in mind for planning future trips. We decided to opt for the package because standing in line for very long with two small children didn't sound fun to me. (Yes as crazy as that sounds. I'm going on vacation and want to relax and enjoy my time there.)

Guess we'll be doing the package on future trips as well with this change.

This is official, I am a Disney Dining CM. There is no availability to book any packages on any days but Monday or Thursday starting in January. It is also reflected in the January calendar for Fantasmic Show times.

The parks schedule for January is posted on the WDW website. Starting the week of January 4, Fantasmic is currently scheduled only on Mondays and Thursdays throughout the month. That part can be considered official.

Because they reserve the right to change schedules at any time, if they've underestimated the attendance figures it may be possible that they'll add shows. But right now January visitors can go only by the schedule they have been given.
