Chances of switching to BWV or AKV?

We are booked for 2 studios at OKW for Dec 3-10 (Pop Warner week). At the 7 month window we put in a request to switch to BWV. As of yet, nothing. I'm assuming it's a lot harder to move b/c we need TWO studios. Do you think by some chance we will end up getting into BWV? Would we have a better chance trying to switch to AKL? We really, really wanted BWV but I'm kind of losing hope. :guilty:

The week you want is one of the most popular for DVC so getting 2 studios at BWV from the waitlist is highly unlikely. Some folks have luck on the wailtlist by calling regularly to see if a day might be available at the beginning or end. They book an available day and then keep doing that. But 2 studios makes that strategy not useful. AKV is a larger resort than BWV so you might have had a better chance there had you waitlisted at 7 months. You could still try but I am afraid your chances are not good. You will love WDW at that time no matter what resort you are at. It is just lovely.
Wish I could have been the bearer of better news.

Hmmm, guess I am surprised to hear that's such a popular week for DVC, but then again I'm a DVC newbie. It seems like points for that week are lower than a lot of other times--maybe that is why, or maybe people don't want to stay at the resorts b/c of Pop Warner? My Disney book says that is one of the best weeks to go, moderate weather/lower crowds. But that probably makes people want to flock there lol!

Ah well, we knew there was a pretty good chance we would be unable to switch. We waitlisted for BWV instead of AKV because we have several reservations at BWV and my family likes to go watch the games at ESPN. But worst case scenario I guess we can just cab it over there a few times. Such a pain to try to get from one hotel over to any other hotel.

Thanks for the input!

I think one studio for one week will be hard, but two studios for one week will be impossible. Anywhere. Stay with OKW this time and plan at 11 months out next time you go the first week in Dec. That week is popular because points are low, DVC has the annual member meeting about that time, decorations are up, Christmas parties and Candlelight Processional are happening. It's a perfect time to go for a member.

You can always take the bus to DHS from OKW and then take a boat over to the BW.

There is definitely a learning curve for DVC. You will find that early December is popular because of low points needed and all of the great stuff going on in the parks. Food and Wine (late Sep. until early Nov.) is also popular, especially at BCV and BWV. October weather, low points needed and MNSSHP are also big drawing cards for that time of year.
These boards hold a wealth of information. There is virtually no DVC question you might have that someone on this board can't answer. I'll bet that if you hang out here on a fairly regular basis you will soon be a DVC veteran.
Enjoy your December trip. It is the most magical time of year to be at WDW. :goodvibes

Lower points always attract DVC crowds and the fact that for years tour books have said this is a good time to go, has made it more and more crowded each year.

Thanks for all the insights, I appreciate it! Ah well all is not lost, at least we will be together with our other party at OKW and we always have fun no matter what. :) And after spending our last few trips at Pop Century, it will be so nice to have 2 QUEEN beds instead of 2 doubles, and more room for our gangly growing boys! :rotfl:

I could not get all my days for October at BWV at nine months out. I am still on the waiting list. I would not get my hopes up.

That is a surprise to me. There should be Pool/Garden view rooms available even at 7 months for October.

It wouldn't be a surprise if you were trying to get either standard view or boardwalk view, though. Those two categories often fill completely during the first few days the window is open, especially for the time surrounding Columbus Day.
