Chances of modifying 7DMT? Other 7DMT that DO NOT include RD

We are spending 2 days at MK the Thursday and Friday of Presidents Day weekend. I am anticipating busy crowds, especially based upon all the chatter I have read about January crowds. Our 7 year old has Autism so trying to minimize wait times. I know there are a lot of good “filler” options at MK between fast passes so that is a bonus.

I understand how the “tap/grab/modify” strategy works for additional fast passes.

But we have a 2:10pm FP for 7DMT. I have been checking a ton for new times for an earlier time but I know things do not become more fluid until the day before or day of.

We really don’t want to rope drop with all the mobs of people and would also like to see the welcome show. So, hoping we might be able to modify to move it up? Not sure how available this option will be for a popular ride on a busy day?

Our other FP that day are at 11:30 and 12:30 (BTMR and Splash). We plan on heading back to Shades of Green mid/late afternoon to grab an early dinner and let kids relax a bit before heading back for fireworks.

But would also love to try to get in a few more additional FP if possible.

Other option for 7DMT would be to get in line right before park closes at 9:00pm? How long are wait times for it just minutes before closing?

Your best best would be to look on the morning of, when people decide not to go or who are running late start moving their FP to later. Obviously, the smaller your party, the easier it will be. I don't think you really need to though. You can get a lot done in the morning at MK, and with high crowds, I think a good plan will be better than constantly refreshing your phone. You want to enjoy that time with your kids!

I'd plan to watch the opening show and hit the rides, do lunch between 11:00 to 12:00ish, then your BTMRR and Splash FP, then TSI from 1:00 to 2:00, then use your FP for 7DMT and head out.

It wouldn't hurt to check, but I wouldn't feel like you need to change your plan. You will have plenty of time to get a good 4th to hit when you come back for the fireworks.

You'll have to just keep trying to modify up until the day of. You may get it, you may not.

BUT the FP+ you have do work well together. You've got time to grab lunch after Splash and before 7DMT. You have the morning to knock out all the other Fantasyland and Tomorrowland rides. So if you don't get it, you're still in good shape.

The difficulty you'll have with that closing strategy is the fireworks. If you're watching in the hub or anywhere in front of the castle, it's unlikely you can get back to the line before 9:00. If you watch from behind the castle, you miss the projections that are a part of the show.

Thanks for the feedback, I feel better! In regards to the fireworks, I have read how crazy it is for the fireworks and yes I would like to be able to see the projections . I read a good chunk of the crowd leaves right after the fireworks, especially since the park is closing at 9pm that night. So, you are saying it would take more than a 1/2 an hour to walk from the hub area to the 7DMT queue? Even if we try to watch from the path connecting the hub to Fantsyland? We don’t need to be super close, my husband and I are both pretty tall so can throw the kids on our backs if needed so they can see the projections of the castle. Would hate to try to weave through crowds with unrealistic expectations. Should we try for a different attraction after the fireworks are over and before park closes? Jungle Cruise? Buzz Light Year?

With HEA at 8pm and park closing at 9pm, you have plenty of time to make your way from the hub to 7DMT after HEA. Yes, it will be a log jam in the hub and it can take awhile to get moving, but you’ll make it just fine. You have until 9pm to actually get in line. Have fun!

Sorry, I didn't realize fireworks were at 8:00 that night. Many times they are right up to closing. You should be able to make it if you plan properly.

Check the map and position yourselves so you can get out of the crowd easily, because, yes, most people will be heading the other way and you'll be swimming upstream.

I only have time for a short replay. But Disney does offer help for people with disabilities that have a hard time waiting in line. Check out the disability part of this site. And I will try to link it latter and explain a little more latter

OK as far as your son with ASD Disney offers something called the Disability access service this allows the user and up to 5 people to wait outside the line, you can use this at any ride or meet and greet with a standby line and FP line. You will get a time to come back to the ride and then go in the FP line ( it will be wait time -10 minutes) So you will have to wait just not in the line itself.

You will need to go to GR and talk to them about this. when you go to GR they will ask what are your ( your sons ) concerns in line let then know why waiting in line is hard for him( we really can not tell you want to say you have to think of why your son need to wait outside of the line)

This really does help a lot and make Disney more enjoyable for people that waining in lines is not an option.

here is from Disney website https://wdpromedia.disney.go.com/me...lities-services/wdw_cognitive_guide_ilove.pdf

the Disability part of this site https://www.disboards.com/forums/disabilities.20/ if you have any question about your son with ASD ask here or go and have a look a lot of helpful people

and a thread to look at ( an this is a long one so just read the first post all the others were before the DAS came out) https://www.disboards.com/threads/w...15-digital-das-on-tickets-magicbands.3178976/

and you can PM me if you have any quest ( I do not have ASD but do have something in common with ASD and I do go to Disney quite a bit)

The DAS does nothing for fireworks if you can afford it I would look into the dessert party well worth it.

We've used this strategy several times in the summer. The longest wait we've ever had was 20 minutes and that was during opening week in 2014.

We've often found 10 minute waits immediately after the fireworks. Just keep in mind that the posted wait times are intentionally exaggerated at night to discourage late riders.

Awesome feedback! Was hoping we could maybe 2 things in the Fantsyland area between fireworks and 9pm closing. Looking at the wait times on MDE shows that meeting Cinderella might be only a 10 minute wait right before closing too!?! We are coming from Central Time zone the day before so won’t feel that late to us. ;)
