Hello! I am not sure I worded the topic title correctly....what I am trying to ask is...if I just WALK INTO the Port orleans and ask for a FL resident rate, is there a possibility I could get it? I am going to WDW in Jan for my DD's Bday. I cannot believe I cannot get a FL resident rate anywhere except ASM. I really wanted a moderate, and was willing to go to WL or AKL also. well, all I can get anywhere is expensive suites or studios. I made the ressie at ASM...at least I have that no matter what. But I am thinking about popping into several moderates on our way to ASM and just asking. Does anyone know about this? Thanks for any and all info!

P.S....look at my counter...only 3 more days! yippee!:yo-yo: :earseek: :bounce:

Nope, you'll get rack rate. WDW resorts are not "authorized" to offer any discounts. You're better off sitting outside in your car & calling CRO on your cell phone.

Can't walk in and get a discount rate.....like the above person mentioned better off trying from your cell....but there are only a limited number of discounted FL rates and they are truly probabaly all gone by now...

I would call that day from your car or a cell phone. I've gotten FL resident rates the same day as check in.

Good luck!

I agree with floridafam. Call from your cell phone. We've gotten FL resident rates in the late afternoon for that night at a moderate on a Saturday night. We had to call more than once so if you don't get it at first, try again.

Just keep trying. We needed FL resident rate for last weekend. All castmembers kept telling me there was only concierge, or crazy stuff available. Finally got a great rate over at AS movies.

We have also gotten FL resident rate, same day. Call in the morning..book the room and drive up.

Most important thing..just keep trying.

I called from my cell phone during the week before Easter 2004. We were supposed to check into WL on Saturday but at 4pm on the Friday I called from the road...we wanted to just keep going. I got an AP rate at WL for that night!:bounce: :Pinkbounc

I agree, I would call up until the time you check in. There is no problem transferring your deposit. I'm still trying to change my Dec. ressie and plan to call the last 5 days before arriving since that would be when people would have to cancel. Discount rates go quickly, but mostly there is a day or so that causes nothing to show up. Did you try changing your dates (spliting your stay). Maybe you can stay at your original place your first night and switch the next day. I could do this for my trip, but since it's only 3 nights, hardly seems worth it for me.

When we went in July and wanted to add on a Night last minute we had to call CRO to get a discount rate the front desk could not do it.

Take the advice from everyone who has posted above.

I was not able to get an AP rate for my upcoming trip in the beginning of January at POR. Had to go with the Special Winter Rate. Was told by the CM when making my reservations that you can modify your reservations up until 20 minutes before you check-in. You can't cancel that late without incurring a charge, but you certainly can modify from a value to a moderate at a discounted rate (if available).

Good luck!

Wow, thanks for the responses. And for once...everyone agrees! I am gonna keep calling...maybe every few days. But your suggestions about calling 5 days prior, and also same day are great. Thanks for your encouragement!!!!

I did want to add one thing....the last time we satyed at WL, we had FL res rates for 3 nights. well, on the third night we decided we could stay one more night....and when I went to the front desk and inquired they said, "Sure! we can give you the same rate!" So we got a fourth night at the FL resident rate.

Also...I have some close friends that are also Disney fanatics. they told us how they were staying a few nights at a moderate. They were driving to leave at the end of their stay and said,"Hey. let's be crazy and stay one more night!" They said they went up to the Yacht and Beach Club front desk and said they wanted to stay a night without a res and they were just leaving the moderate resort...coud they please match that rate? And they SWEAR that the Yacht club said SURE and they stayed there at a moderate price. Do you think that is true?
