Chances of Dec Waitlist - Ugghhh!

Is there a decent chance for a 12/6 & 12/7 waitlist to come through at SSR? I was just added to the list. I couldn't figure out what was happening. I searched here and they are filming the Christmas parade on 12/6, its Pop Warner week and it's a generally popular time for DVC bookings because of low points and Christmas decorations. Eeek! I was toying with Pop w/free dining offer. Should I just jump ship and book that instead?

I jumped! I could not get a room anywhere for 12/6 on points, so I opted for CBR with the free dining. If you pick a value resort, you only get counter service free dining, you have to pick a moderate or deluxe to get table service (one per day) free dining. We have annual passes, so we will only get one day one park tickets that can be applied later to our annual pass renewals. You do have to book a minimum of 5 days...

I do think there is a chance that your waitlist would come through, but you just never know...

And the Disney Visa free dining offer has to be booked for 3 consecutive nights and those staying at a value have an option to pay extra to add on the regular dining plan.

I heard Coronado was the moderate for PW this year.

If you book a value, can you pay $10 per person per night to upgrade to regular dining?

The week of 12/6 is one of the most popular of the year for DVC members. I would make plans elsewhere.

You'll have a much better chance at SSR than some of the other resorts for early December. We were in your position about this time last year, wondering why in the world everything was booked. We waitlisted, took awhile but it came through. Good luck!

I added a couple of nights at Pop for the nights I'm waitlisted but decided against the package. I'm keeping the 2 nights @ SSR. Looking at the availability calendar I'm shocked I even got a studio for those dates. I figured if by some miracle my waitlist comes through I can change my dates on Pop easily.

K9pal - How far in advance were you on the waitlist and when did it finally come through? I know this is such a long shot but you've given me a tiny ray of hope.

There is a Coronado Springs thred under resorts. There are a couple of cast members on that board. They usually list what groups are there at what time.

We tried to get in on the 7th and was told nothing was available. Instead of waitlisting, we booked an inn room at VB for the night of the 7th. We've never been and thought we would go and check out the resort. It's a bit of a drive for only one night, but we figured it we liked the resort we could plan a VB only vacation sometime in the future.

I actually have the nights of the 5th and 6th at SSR but am on the waitlist for VWL. I'm hoping my waitlist comes through and then you can have my SSR dates if you need them.

We have 5 nights at AKV Jambo (Sav. Studio) starting Dec. 6 and 2 nights at Kidani after Jambo. We are on the waitlist to get all 7 nights at Kidani and have been on the wait list from about 10 months out. I called today just to see if any of those days were available and the CM said no. I'm not optimistic. It is seeming like it is harder and harder to get wait list requests to come through.

I investigated this further and everything seems to indicate that PW will be at All Stars and CSR December 5-12. I thought it was strange that there were no standard view rooms available at CSR on 12/6, maybe that explains it. We will be at CBR. I guess on the bright side, we will have the free dining, but will miss the 1 BDR.. I definitely know now to be on the phone at the 11 month mark for early December!

The AP rates are out. I just made a res for Dec 5 and 6. But...there were no ap rooms at Pop Century when I called this past thursday (standard or preferred view), I got a room at All Star Movies - there were no standard rooms for my dates at any value but they had preferred view which was only $15 more than standard (my dates were $54 value/standard and $69 value preferred view). I will deal with the Pop Warner kids for a couple of nights before moving to OKW.

WOW! That was fast - waitlist came through. I think I'll call back tomorrow to request the next one. Awesome! What a cool tip.

I did end up booking a few nights @ the AP rate at ASMo BUT it's for the night before all the PW people come. I should be good there. I booked another night at Pop to avoid the masses. I have a rental car so I don't mind schlepping our carry-on bags a little. Although I might be down to just one night in a value if these waitlist keep coming through.

Glad your waitlist came through. We waited over a month last year for a studio at SSR for first week of December, and it came through in July. In addition to SSR being so large, I think a lot of people book there and then cancel when their waitlist comes through at other resorts, so that makes your chances at SSR even better.

We just got our waitlist night of Dec 6. It was an add-on at the beginning of our trip. It is for a 2 bdrm at SSR.
