Chances for a studio in October?

Just got the go-ahead from DH for my solo trip later this year..

I'm thinking of 20 -27 October to coincide with a meet I'd like to take part in, what are my chances of a studio? Resort doesn't really bother me, preferably one cheap on points!

Thought I'd just check in here before I call MS..

Would last week September be better or is that still holiday season??

I think food and wine is still going in October so that may be a more difficult time.

September should be good. Don't know what holiday you're talking about. Labor Day is Sep 4th and Columbus Day is Oct 9th, but both of those are just single day holidays.

Your call to MS will give you availability for your dates.

Keep in mind MS will be closed today, July 4th as it's also a holiday.

F&W is through the middle of November. End of October is a great time to go!

I called 2 weeks ago for 10/25-30 for a studio anywhere.

BCV and BWV sold out. Had to move to a 1 bedroom for part of our stay at both OKW and SSR.

People do change plans, however. You may luck out.

As I'm solo, a 1br is not really an option, then I might just get a room with AP discount.. I'm fairly flexible with dates so I'll talk to MS and see what comes up..

I have a friend who is currently waitlisted for a studio about that time also. Of course BWV and BCV was pretty much waitlisted at the 7 month window. I managed 2 studios at the WLV calling day by day. Hopefully there might be some opennings at OKW or SSR. I found October to be one of the hardest times I've had so far to get in. I'm still 'green' at this, but am learning quickly.

Last year I called in Aug and give MS a 2 week window of time that I would like a studio for 5 nights and was able to get SSR starting on 10/30. I also scheduled a Dec trip at the same time and could get OKW for 7 nights.

Is it just studios that are hard to come by? We were thinking about coming down for Halloween but would need a 2 bedroom since we have 3 kids!

2 bedroom units are just as hard to come by as are the studios - maybe even tougher. IIRC, there are waitlists for Halloween week for at lest some of the DVC resorts. (EPCOT's Food & Wine Festival is also going on during that time)

If you think you might go for Halloween, make your reservations soon - you can always cancel them if you end up not going (be sure to cancel at least 31 days prior to arrival to avoid having your points go into the holding account).

I just called to add on a night for my early Oct stay and they had availability at BWV so you never know. (It was for a studio as well).

We just tried for a 2BR during this time and were told there were none available. We were told there is an PGA golf event at Disney that week and rooms filled quickly because of that.

I called on 6/27 and was told that there were no Studios at any DVC resrot on Th 10/26. I was able to book this night for cash with the member discount at BWV PV. Except for 10/26, the period from 10/22 to 10/28 was avalable at SSR in a Studio.
To my surpise, last week I was able to book BWV BW view for 10/24 & 10/25. I am still waitlisted for 10/22, 10/23, 10/26 & 10/27 BWV BW view. A conference came up at the last minute right at the end of our already planned vacation and I am hoping to go. If the waitlists don't go thru then there is always next year.

Had no problem, got 22 - 26 oct at SSR. I'll do friday/sat cash AP hopefully to save points and am waitlisted for OKW..

Also the week after was ok at SSR but not the 29th for some reason.
